Dr. Jennifer Michels, PHD

I saw Dr. Michels during a complicated & traumatic time in my life around 2015–2016. She was able to provide me with timely psychotherapy and really helped to empower me in order to process my situation and make my own choices. I was never made to feel like a decision was wrong or right. She never rushed me. She has always asked my permission privately if she was training or teaching regarding having another person present for our sessions. She is a “down to earth“ person who doesn’t pass judgment or Ever give the impression that you are “less than normal” for what you might be going through. She incorporates research and evidence-based guidelines into her work. I love that she teaches others & obviously is a great psychologist and a leader in her field. She’s empathetic and professional. I am confident in her abilities. I consider myself lucky to get to work with her. Recently, in 2022 began seeing her again. I look forward to our appointments and I find that pretty rare!

During 2 years of visits I had one crisis visit, during which she repeatedly pointed out how I was inconveniencing her and she did not take my crisis seriously, as she was primarily focused on my interference with her desire to leave work early that day.
