Highly skilled psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience.
He treated my adolescent daughter diagnosed with OCD anxiety problems,

I am an internist with a large medical group, and have referred a number of patients to Dr. Abec for psychiatric medication reviews and psychotherapy. I have been very impressed with his understanding and insight in how chronic medical conditions overlap with psychiatric disorders. I continue to recommend Dr. Abec to my practice colleagues as a valuable resource for patients with psychiatric conditions.

As a practicing primary care physician, I am well informed about the psychologists in my geographic area. After carefully evaluating Dr. Abec's unique credentials; psychologist, physician and psychopharmacologist, I had the opportunity to consult with him about my own long standing and not successfully treated affective disorder syndrome. After a relatively short time, he was able to identify the side effects of my anxiolytic protocol, that were responsible for my fluctuating moods.

A family friend who is a psychiatrist suggested I contact James Abec, a medical psychologist, to help me with my debilitating bipolar symptoms and to help monitor my medication regiment. I am so glad our friend did, since Dr. Abec helped me with a better understanding of the way I feel when I am symptomatic and also about what the meds do and don't do. I have since referred a colleague who has had equally positive experiences with Dr. Abec.

Having seen 4 psychiatrists before to review the effectiveness of my antidepressant medications,
Dr. Abec, who is both a physician with an MD and a clinical psychologist with a PhD, additionally with post grad credentials in psychopharmacology, was the only provider to effectively "reboot" my protocol so for the first time in 5 years I have relief from my symptoms. He is also an empathic psychotherapist.
I am grateful for my primary care doctor to have referred me to Dr. Abec.
