I want to share so that others can avoid my experience: Was a horrible experience. During a treatment planning session therapist focused on lambasting my personal qualities and accusing me of faking my symptoms "for attention" instead of providing a clear treatment plan. When I mentioned I was struggling, I was told that I was being manipulative and that I was "faking" being upset. Was spoken to as if I was a child in session even though I am a young-adult woman. The sarcastic, reactive remarks to any of my attempts to defend myself were probably the worst part. Was crying profusely during and after the appointment. Would not recommend especially for trauma recovery. Destroyed my sense of confidence and self-worth. One of the worst experiences I have had in therapy and definitely an experience that will keep me from returning to therapy at least for a long time. I hope that no one else has to go through this experience. I feel scammed and shamed just for reaching out for help.
