My amazing doctor (MD) died after taking care of me for many years. I am an old professional, former marathon runner, athlete still working (by choice) six days a week as a professor and LCSW. I tried to explain to this woman that my primary concern was my long term and intergenerational high blood pressure. I tried to explain that I prefer exercise, diet, etc over endless testing. Based on my lab results that I provided at my first visit (and explained that my long term MD always told me were normal for me) she sent me for more lab work telling me those results could indicate cancer (which is also in my family history). Over a week went by with no notice about the results but I did get a link to my patient portal. Much to my surprise, there were no lab results but it seemed that based on our one time 15 minute visit with NO review of my records, she listed several brand new, never before noted (by MDs and specialists) diagnoses but made absolutely NO mention of my HBP.
