Evelyn Mensah, CRNP

I had 1 appointment with her and she automatically criticized my current medication regimen from my previous provider- which has been working for years. She was cold, uninterested in getting to know me as a person, talked down to me and when I provided her feedback on how she made me feel, she got defensive and threw it back in my face. My previous provider sent a letter to explain her experience with me and my medication and I do not believe Evelyn read it because she asked questions that all would have been answered if she read the letter from my previous provider. Anyone vulnerable and needing kindness and warmth- she is not for you. Yes, she focuses on medication, but she should also be empathetic. She’s definitely in the wrong field. Do not recommend.

This person is not a good fit for those needing healthcare.

This woman laughed at me when I asked her a serious medical question. Not just a short chuckle but full on laughed for several seconds and then told me how ridiculous my question was. I left that appointment embarrassed and invalidated and as a mental health specialist, that is even more unacceptable. I will never ever see her again.

Had no empathy whatsoever. I understand she, at least when I was her patient in 2020 into 2021, was a psychiatrist , prescribing medications, and wasn't my personal therapist, but she didn't care about anything I said. Invalidated is definitely how she aids her mental health patients to feel. I ASSUme because she went to school for psychology she believes her thoughts are right because it worked for another person. Well that ain't me. And I tried explaining that to her multiple months. I got pregnant so I had to change my Bi Polar II medications to something baby-safe. Whatever I switched to made me look and feel like I was having a stroke. Not the usual "zombie-like" I've felt with plenty of medications since 2015. I would constantly drool. I would forget what I was saying, what I was doing - even while driving! Evelyn insisted it was a common side effect. Absolutely was not. I did plenty of research, stopped them cold turkey and found a new psychiatrist shortly after. Stay away!!

Rude and unprofessional

I agree with the above review. Felt very unheard. She was not friendly at all and seemed cold and uninterested. She is absolutely in the wrong profession of helping people with mental health issues (I’ve seen a lot).

If you want to feel invalidated, unheard, and scolded all in one shame-inducing appointment, then Evelyn Mensah is your psychiatrist! However, if you are feeling vulnerable and are genuinely looking for understanding and help, then stay far away—I wish I had.
