Gets the job done. Good about following up. If I actually needed someone to listen to and work with me on medications and dosage, rather than just renew mostly stable scrips, I'd probably look elsewhere. It's hard to talk to him as a person; he's fond of asking questions about your life to try and gauge your mental state over and above what's self-reported, but has pretty narrow pre-defined criteria of what he's looking for, what that indicates, and how he wants to make your answers fit. Offers unsolicited life advice from a basis of conservative values that may not be applicable or reflect patient lived experiences. Can be low-key condescending. Of the school of thought that patients can't know anything about their own experiences, that's solely the provenance of those with degrees in mental health fields. Dumbs down language instead of meeting patients in the register where they're at, but then jumps register abruptly when explaining things he doesn't think you'll understand anyway.
