Dr. Emily Owens, PHD

Dr. Emily Owens is a fantastic psychologist. She has really helped me over the last few years. She listens carefully and gives good advice. I've seen many different psychiatrists and psychologists over the years. I find her to be more polite than the average doctor. One that cares more about how the patient feels and views their disease. Making it less of a stigma that the patient and society have placed on them but as something that a doctor can help the patient understand and overcome. Dr. Owens reminds me of the first time I went to a psychologist's office in my first year of college at Bennington College before I needed visits to the psychiatrist and psychiatric medication. I wish I had continued with that psychologist. Maybe then I would have been cured right away. Anyways, I've very happy and satisfied that I was able to find Dr. Owens towards the end of my life. I highly recommend her.

She is unprofessional and only cares about the money.

When asked before scheduling a consultation whether she could write an emotional service animal letter, dr Owens said “we can talk about that.” Cut to the session and she says it’s not a service she provides “because it isn’t an evidence based treatment, and in fact some research suggests that pets can prolong behavioral issues due to emotional avoidance.” Funny she didn’t mention that before scheduling a $300 session... scam.

Waste of time and money. Said practically nothing the whole consultation, asked some questions with a judgmental air (Not à projection). You essentially feel like you’re speaking with someone who is still in training (She’s two years out of school) and reading her notes on what she’s supposed to say in every given context, in short: speaking to you like a research subject rather than a person. At the end of the the $300 session she recommended another form of treatment.
