Elaine was not an effective therapist for me. I came in with extended family concerns. Instead of listening and guiding me to where was healing for me, she would suggest wild extremes like just cutting off those family members. This suggestion would have severely damaged other relationships within my family. She was unprofessional in other ways as well. Once, she clipped her nails during our session. Several times she ate food. It took me a while to leave because this my first experience with therapy as an adult. A few months later she was calling me because she was having trouble getting reimbursed from my insurance. I’m sorry but that is not my responsibility that you waited so long to submit for that money. That’s part of having a private practice.

We were worse off after several months with her than before. She thought just "saying the words" were enough of an apology. I would have thought someone counselling divorced parents would make every effort to make the parents consider the children first and foremost. But no, at the very first session she was suggesting huge changes for the kids without giving them a second thought. She was big on saying "sometimes kids are relieved when parents divorced." Maybe sometimes they are, but she had no contact with our kids to know if any of them felt that way. My ex and I did not fit the mold of constantly fighting, bickering, insulting each other spouses. Our sessions weren't just a waste of time and money, they moved us backwards .

Elaine is very easy to talk to, listens without judgment, but is also willing to tell it like it is.

So easy to talk to and empathetic. She has helped me through a very difficult time.
