I have been a patient with Mr. Gonzalez, LMFT for past year. During this past year, my life had turned upside down in so many ways. When I first went with Mr. Gonzalez, I was hopeless, helpless and was almost ready to give up in life. However, he took the time to listen, validate, and at times, pointed out things I was not ready to face, but my life only changed when I did face them, something that some of the people who are posting negative reviews, may not be ready to do. I recommend Mr. Gonzalez to everyone and anyone who is serious about making a commitment to therapy and not just seeking to blame or vent when things are not going their way.

As the other reviews state, Edward is very unprofessional when it comes to scheduling. He is entitled and disorganized for a profession that requires you be understanding and flexible to meet your clients' needs. Moreover, by the time I had my negative experience with him regarding scheduling, he was referring to other clients to me as "irresponsible," which 1) shouldn't be done, ever and 2) made me wonder if he shares anything about me outside of our sessions. I will be seeking another therapist.

There was a misunderstanding in scheduling an appointment. He texts me one morning to confirm for that evening, and when I tell him that is not the day/time I agreed to, he gets upset then asks how I want to proceed. I ask to reschedule. He ignores me. I repeat the request. He still ignores me. When I call him several days later but don't leave a message, he calls back asking who I am. He schedules a new appointment 1 month out, saying he only makes time for people who are committed. I feel uneasy about continuing to see him, given his response, so I leave a voicemail a few days later cancelling our appointment and professional relationship. He calls back but doesn't leave a message. Weeks later, he texts me to confirm that appointment. I tell him I cancelled weeks ago. He says "where is the text that you cancelled?" I says I left a voicemail. He responds with "lol. Good night." Not worth it.

He's not a therapist that would care about you, he cares about money and changes your appointment making you feel you're the one that doesn't remember the appointment date. Only one session and he kept my 60 dollars, because "that's his policy".

Edward was a great help during some hard life transitions I was facing last year. He helped me identify and work through my codependency issues. Gave me a few resources to work with outside of our sessions. We uncovered a lot of trauma that I never really thought about and he always asked questions that help put things into perspective and challenged what was going on inside my head. It's important to note that if you're seeking out therapy, you need to be willing to do the work. You need to be willing to come open and be vulnerable. That is the only way therapy is going to work. Help them help you. Therapist aren't there to say some magic words that will fix your problems overnight. They are there as a tool to help you through what you need.

Edward has been a tremendous joy to work with as my therapist. From the very beginning he made me feel I was working with a true professional who was passionate about his craft and someone who cared about my well being. I have been going now for over a year because of how successful our sessions have been. I have been able to recognize and work through my blocks to grow spiritually and emotionally and find my purpose. Edward’s insight has been valuable in improving relationships with my family, and myself.

After the short first session we scheduled and appointment for the following week. On his paper work he asks to reschedule 2 days in advance(completely appropriate) but when I did call on a Monday to reschedule a Thursday appointment he gave me an attitude that appeared to be really bothered for rescheduling. I was open and honest and informed him my employer asked If can stay for the full day and for that reason asked if we could push appointment for the following week. He then asked what would happen next if my supervisor did not give me the time off. I informed him the time was already pre-approved and would not have that problem. He stated in an unpleasant tone that he liked to work with people that are committed and that it seemed to him that i had other priorities and would suggest I look for another therapist. I was completely taken back by his response as i am in great need of a therapist and was coming from long beach just to see him. I was committed. He is rude unpleasant

This guy is insensitive and haughty. I was in a bad mental health situation and my sister started calling around to different therapists. This one gave me a call demanding to know why I couldn't make the Monday time slot he had available, asked when I could set up regular appointments, and in the five seconds that I was thinking about it, insultingly told me I need to weigh my priorities between my health and my job. Money and work are obviously primary stressors! Totally inappropriate.
