Dr. Edward Batista, PHD

Dr. Batista saved my life. I had been to so many other doctors and they just kept referring me to more and more intensive therapy. The fact is that all I really needed was someone who would be real with me. Someone who wasn't looking for a reason to send me away. Someone I could trust to tell me the truth even if it hurt, and then provide guidance on how I could do the work to face that truth. Maybe that's not what everyone needs, but that is what I needed, and Dr. Batista had the courage to be that person for me. He saved my life, and I am forever grateful.

Dr. Batista is a very effective counselor. I sought him out primarily b/c of his education level but discovered more. He interacts with you. He speaks candidly. Some people may be put off by this. I wouldn't say he's non-traditional; it's still a formal relationship & setting. BUT he does not just sit there and ask you "how does that make you feel", nod his head a few times, or pretend like he's listening....he is actively engaged with you. He is rock solid usable and valuable perspective

He spoke constantly....mostly about himself. He took phone calls during the sessions. He didn't listen. He didn't seem to grasp the severity of the situation which was a medical one with psychological ramifications. He seemed to make light of it. It was the worst experience. Not helpful at all.
