Making the decision to see a therapist was difficult for me. The last thing I expected was to feel as though my therapist was judging me and speaking to me as if I'm unintelligent and less than. Fortunately, confidence and self-esteem are not where my issues lie. I recommend researching a few therapists and also "interviewing" them prior to making an appointment.

Amazing

I had this practitioner for nearly 4 months for couples counseling. She offered no strategies or remedies for my wife and me and at times was visibly frustrated and cut me off when I was speaking. It was difficult to deal with her as I did not know if she had something against cis males or males of color but whatever it was, it was palpable. She rarely challenged my wife on her stuff and seems to make excuses for my wife and her behavior but was swift to admonish me for doing things like working on my relationship and building connections. I would not recommend this person as a couples therapist.
