I had doubts about this therapist a couple of months in but kept going for a year because I was told that I should trust the process. That turned out to be a mistake. While there were moments when I did learn things, overall, I often felt like I was being told repeatedly that I was wrong about my own experiences. I expressed that multiple times, but each time I somehow ended up agreeing that I was wrong and she was right. Over time, I felt increasingly discouraged, disillusioned and confused about what was happening in sessions. There were also ethical concerns, including two breaches of confidentiality. This experience has been a significant setback and has left me hesitant to try therapy again.

I was referred to this woman by Optum because she treats children using EMDR. My child suffered through two traumatizing situations as a toddler and desperately needed help as they were displaying symptoms of PTSD. Deborah began ripping the band aid off and addressing the issues. As a result, my child started having terrible nightmares every night, struggled being alone even for a second, and had to keep all lights in the house on even during the daytime. Deborah advised this is normal due to opening up suppressed feelings and thoughts. Right when she was supposed to start the EMDR treatment she disappeared. It's been almost two years and we've never heard from her. No phone call, email, or text. She cold turkey stopped treating my child without warning or notice. She's a horrible person to do this to a child. If she does this to a child, nobody stands a chance. I highly recommend you find someone else with a heart because this lady clearly doesn't have one.
