Dr. David Camara, OD

Dr. Camara was awesome! I was especially excited because my ophthalmologist mentioned 'I really want you to go to Dr. Camara, he'll know what to do and he sure did. I went to another Dr and there was absolutely no comparison. For it being my first appt with him, he gave me a trial and measured me for specialty lenses. I was even excited to come back. I am very skeptical about people touching my eyes but he was so gentle.

The examination and explanation of the results were conducted in a friendly, clear and concise manner by the doctors.

The Doctor took time in reviewing data previously taken by a technician, and explained the results. I had several questions about my current vision and they were answered to my satisfaction. I actually like Doctor Camara more than most of the eye doctors that I have seen.

Dr. Camara is very caring and thorough. He has examined my eyes for years now and checks them for macular deg. every 6 months. He quickly id's any changes and if he sees any changes, presses for me to see another specialist in the office.

Dr. Camara is experienced and is thorough in defining the best evaluation and solution for Corrective Lenses. In my case the solution was for the various distances needed for reading music of all types, sizes and distances from my eyes. He is empathetic and takes the time needed for discussion and understanding.

Dr. Camara is a wonderful doctor. I have been seeing him for years. He is kind and listens well and never makes you feel rushed.

Very professional and explained everything well

Fifteen minutes after I arrived for my visual field test, the receptionist told me they were running behind, 5 patients were before me and that I might have to wait for about an hour! She also explained that the visual field test machine is (has been) broken. What? I wasn't called to reschedule, when the machine is broken?? She gave me the option to wait for my test or reschedule. I decided to reschedule. I spoke over the phone with the office mgr. later (Emmy?) and she defended everything about the terribly handled appointment and didn't seem to have any ideas as to how she could have made my experience better. I've been a patient there for 10 years and have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for any exam or test. Maybe the office manager is new?

The Dr was great no complaints but the office never told me about the price of the visit not being covered by insurance so i wasn't able to continue with appointments because I couldn't afford the procedure and it cost me 85$ for a simple eye exam that I have had done 5 times this year with no out of pocket cost because of my low income health care insurance I will be corresponding with IEHP about this matter I feel like i was taken advantage of and hope nobody else gets treated so poorly because of financial issues.
