Demeaning and Inconsiderate to Patient
During family member's hospitalization, Mr. Hill provided a bleak outlook on his condition and when asked if 'has seen someone improve' responded with a wry chuckle stating 'No, not usually.' Furthermore, when asked about the possibility of a liver transplant, Mr. Hill informed us that there is limited availability of livers and those livers would be better used for someone who 'deserves them'. When asked whether a family member could donate a liver, he emphasized how patients invariably go back to drinking and waste the livers they were given. I am gravely concerned about the way in which Mr. Hill practices medicine and fear for those who do not have the benefit of family being present during his visit.

I have had chronic diarrhea for over 18 years. Ever since they took my gallbladder out in 1992 I have always been told there was nothing that could be done. I learned to live with it and never get to far from a bathroom. Dr. Hill has managed to get it down to where I only have a problem one or two days a week and that isn't even the reason I went to him in the first place. He is kind, and listens to you when you talk to him. He has done everything possible to help with my problems and I would never recommend anyone else. He is very thorough when he sees you and pays attention to what you are saying. He remembers from one visit to the next what is going on with you and you don't have to explain yourself over and over again.

Darren is a pleasant guy. That being said, I'm glad to be under the care of another Dr. within the GI Consultants umbrella. He performed a high-resolution esophageal manometry test several months ago. There were some scheduling issues that were certainly not his fault that added to the unpleasantness of the already difficult test but my complaint was in how he delivered the results of the test. Without knowing my patient history or anything about me he was overjoyed to tell me that there was nothing really all that wrong with me and if I was his patient, he'd tell me to come back when things got worse. Thankfully his recommendation wasn't backed up by the report that the test generated. Had my physician gone with Darren's recommendations instead of the data provided by the test, I would have remained suffering for much longer.
