Daphne Demaris, MA

I came to Daphne to work on PTSD from sexual and relational abuse, and to address my concerns with Christianity. When I expressed my doubts with Christianity, her response was "Well, you know there are only two places we go, right? Heaven or hell." She inferred that God was getting my attention through communication with my narcissistic Christian ex-boyfriend, she said “Don’t you think God is calling you back by leading you to me?” (as in, God must have been leading me back to himself by leading me to her as my therapist), and this was when I was telling her I was leaving Christianity. I gave her a folder containing legal documentation of my childhood sexual abuse, the investigation, the notes from the child therapist, my mom's therapy journal, and child protection services letters. I told her I wanted to process and address my childhood sexual abuse. She never brought up the contents of the folder. She said she left the folder at home because she couldn't leave it in her office.
