Not what you would expect…
If you are looking for someone who is open minded and willing to listen to how you feel, someone who doesn’t just sit there like a lump when you burst into tears, then Chaz Colton isn’t who you should see. He definitely has his own agenda, he doesn’t speak clearly, but instead mutters under his breath. He holds onto old views about what autism looks like, instead of realizing that there’s an entire gender that has been missed. He doesn’t think that autistic people are intelligent enough to mask for very long and although most medical professionals in his field have realized that this is not true, he continues to hold fast to these views. He will be happy to tell you exactly how you remember your past experiences and that you only are capable of remembering things with strong emotions tied to memories, he can do all of this after a short conversation with you. I strongly recommend you avoid Chaz Colton for your own sanity.

Feeling Aren’t Facts
Before I went to see Chaz, I read some reviews. After I definitely felt like giving up before I’d even gotten started. I’ve never found a psychiatrist or therapist I could connect with. Trusting people is very difficult for me. At the beginning of the appointment Chaz explained he would just be asking questions. I was relieved honestly, explaining myself can be difficult most of the time. Near the end, Chaz made some recommendations on medication, I really appreciated the time he took to explain how they worked and how they were different from what I currently take. After that I asked for his opinion, he made it clear that it was not a diagnosis. He offered a lot of insight, things I’d not fully considered and I found it very helpful. I would definitely see Chaz again, I felt like he listened to everything I said, although I might not agree with everything, based on the information he had, I think he made some very good points and I’m willing to see where this goes.

Invalidated Immediately
I saw Dr. Colton after waiting months for an appointment and being rescheduled multiple times. The visit was very sterile, and I was just asked basic questions for 45 minutes. He then told me that I didn't "qualify" for the diagnoses I was given by my old therapy and psychiatry team that had worked with me for years, and then proceeded to list 5 different medications he could put me on and basically just told me to pick one. I did not feel like any of my symptoms were actually considered or that I was listened to.

After only a 1-hour visit made assumptive diagnosis' without clarification and background on the patient. Clearly a lack of experience in the field. The visit was more damaging and triggering than helpful.
