Dr. Brinton charges additional fees for things like appointment prep, calling in prescriptions, and research as well as when she goes over your appointment time (without letting you know that's even happening). I've never seen a provider do that before. I ended up paying a large amount out of pocket because of this unusual policy, and when I emailed her to ask about what an additional $300 "extended time" charge was for (the appointment itself was only $260), she lashed out at me and was very harsh and defensive. She even suggested I drop her as my doctor. I don't think her billing practices are ethical. I was trying to get help for a rare and difficult pain condition, and she acted like she cared. But her response to this concern made me feel attacked and lost my trust. I'm disabled and can't afford excessive, unpredictable charges. If you decide to see her, read your paperwork carefully and be prepared for large fees that insurance might not cover.
