Carmela Katz, LCSW

Carmela (Denise) has been an invaluable contributor to the maintenance of my mental health. She provided me with the space to grow at my own pace as I learn to manage my anxiety and depression. She often provides a fresh perspective with gentle nudges of encouragement and positive reinforcement. I always feel better at the end of a session with Carmela.

I see Carmela (Denise) to talk about recent day-to-day life management things and also life-long traumatic issues. She is very supportive of my feelings and perspectives. She asks good questions that guide me in thinking about my circumstances. I like that she keeps track of the various things going on in my life and checks in on them, even if they are not the main part of our conversation because it helps me stay focused.

Denise cares about her patients. She listens—really listens, and doesn’t judge. Denise provides a safe place to express feelings, concerns, and anxieties. She is patient, helpful, and empathetic. I chose her because I wanted a therapist with some life experience, not someone fresh out of school. Denise has gently helped me to see things in a wider perspective. She has made an effort to understand what is important to me. Her kindness and encouragement have been an oasis for me.

I was a patient for 9 years and she was the best. Helped me deal with my anxiety and bipolar. A very kind and educated therapist always making sure when I left my appointment that I will be okay. She is a person who gives you hope as each day comes I know Denise is always there when I need her. You can’t get a better therapist than her. I would recommend her to anyone she is a person who can guide you through the hard times and good times. I can say it’s like a different atmosphere when I have a appointment with her. I feel calm and open for my recovery and future when I see her.

She made inappropriate/weird comments and questions that contradicted information already given, almost seemed to be out of spite. It took a few sessions before I knew I'd had enough. Just my personal experience. I think I subconsciously annoyed her.
