I’d tried so many other therapists before I met Caren; she was my last attempt before writing off therapy completely. I’ve been working with her for four years now, and my life has changed drastically. I came in so scared and shut down I could hardly talk, let alone share anything personal, but Caren was not deterred. With patience and encouragement she showed me I could trust her, and that nothing is off limits to talk about in the therapy room. Caren truly cares and it comes through. She is real, and honest, and has a great sense of humor. You know you’re getting the “real” person, not a detached persona. She is totally present and engaged in each session, remembers what’s going on from week to week and is able to recall and connect things that I brought up months or years ago. She truly listens without judgement. Through our work, and after being on the receiving end of Caren’s genuine empathy and compassion, I have become decidedly more compassionate myself.

The past three years of working with Caren has turned out to be the most transformative years of my life both mentally and emotionally. I struggled with anxiety, depression, and engaged in harmful behaviors for years, and with the support of Caren, I am grateful to say that I have succeeded in resolving most of these challenges, and I am more confident and empathetic today than I am in any other periods of my life. What I appreciate about Caren is that she is personable, professional, and effective. She was able to make a significant shift in my mentality and mood after just a few sessions. She is great at identifying issues and guiding me to their solutions. She is empathetic and made me feel supported during the more difficult moments of my life. Also, she is very accepting, and I felt very comfortable sharing the personal details of my life that needed to be resolved. I highly recommend her services to anyone who wants to improve their lives.

Caren is literally life-changing. I started seeing her two years ago when I was at a very hard place in life, and the amount I've changed and grown in that time is incredible. As someone who has seen a lot of therapists over the years, Caren is truly the best therapist I've ever seen. I highly recommend her services.

I have met several therapists in the past, but none so helpful, kind, compassionate and non-judgemental as Caren Shapiro. She has an excellent ability to put life challenges and trauma into perspective while at the same time, keeping it honest and objective in the room. In addition, she continues to make herself available to her clients whenever necessary. I highly recommend Caren as a therapist and counselor.

It was a commute for me to get to Caren from where I lived, but going was always worth it! She is so supportive and caring, and made me feel safe during the time when I felt totally powerless. I never felt 'judged' in her office-and she was so patient. I would shut down and not want to talk about anything at all, but she would never give up. I would recommend her to anyone-especially those who've been through any sort of trauma, like abuse. She helped me beyond what I even thought was possible.

Caren is a warm & empowering therapist with so much integrity, I am grateful to have found her. She was the first therapist who really helped me turn a corner and see things more clearly. She met me where I was that day, some of those days were really tough ones, but I always felt supported. There were times when I couldn't leave my house, so she would speak to me on the phone. She was flexible with insurance issues, let me pay on a sliding scale & I treasure the treatment I received from her.
