Brian Jacobs, LCSW

I saw Jacobs many years ago as a teenager. I occasionally think back and wish I had the knowledge and empowerment within a closer time range to file about my experience. At the time of seeing this therapist, I was engaged in an emotionally, physically and abusive relationship. At absolutely no point was the word abuse used by this therapist, nor any other kind of attempts to shine light on my situation—he'd just laugh and smile, sometimes cracking sarcastic jokes, about my decision to be in the relationship. At one point I directly told him that I did not enjoy sexual relations with my partner and just waited for it to be over. He did not bring any information to me in response to this statement or do anything but the usual ironic laugh at me for staying in the situation. I believe my situation and mental health could have improved years earlier with actual therapy, or at least, none at all so I wasn't getting a second opinion reinforcing the idea that my situation was fine.
