Unavailable to update meds, causing worse outcome
During my visit, I could not remember which antibiotics I was allergic to. He prescribed one that I know I’m not allergic to, but that is not the drug of choice to treat a UTI. He asked that I confirm which antibiotics I am allergic to and then follow up so he can adjust my prescription. When I tried calling the office the next day during business hours, their phones were out of service the entire day. When I was finally able to reach the office, he was away for a few days and his staff would not prescribe me medication on his behalf. I had no other choice than to schedule an appointment with my family doctor, which took additional time. As a result, I ended up having a UTI that led to a kidney infection, requiring a visit to the emergency room. It’s unacceptable to have no way to contact the office or allow other staff to order me a prescription under the circumstances. They provided me no way to get the prescription I needed for treating my condition, causing a worse outcome.
