Extremely rude and didn't take the time to understand what was going on in the patient's life which caused a delay of treatment. Instead made assumptions and showed extreme frustration.

As a non IBCLC lactation "specialist", Bernadette gave us exactly the wrong advice... every time. She told me, on day 10, that my milk should be completely in (this does not settle until around 4 weeks), there was nothing much we could do about it (also untrue), and that while it was my decision she should support me if i chose to give up. Thanks for the support and professional resources. It is especially difficult as a first time mom during a pandemic. Thankfully, I don't take kindly to giving up and found my own assistance from actual IBCLCs online. 10 weeks of exclusivity breastfeeding and my son is growing well. If I didn't love his doctor, I'd voice my concerns to the practice since I'm sure she's cut other mother's journeys short, much to their heartbreak. I'm concerned for future parents and irritated I need to pay the insurance bill but it is what it is. Don't be afraid to be your own advocate!
