We tried to get marriage counseling with her but at the end of the first session she told us that we wouldnt be good fit because of her beliefs since we have gone no contact with abusive family members. I guess she didnt agree with that but what kind of marriage counselor would want their patients to be in contact with people who abuse them? Just because they're related by blood doesnt mean they're not abusive and doesnt mean that they need to be in our lives. Horrible, outdated, damaging beliefs to have as a marriage counselor.
