Allison Altenburger, APRN

Alison was wonderful she listened to my concerns and answered all questions I found out things about my health I didn't know before going to her i'm so thankful.

Allison Altenburger picks and chooses which patients to give her best to. She left the north haven office in the middle of caring for a condition I am still stuck with due to not being properly treated or referred. She didn’t even think to leave me (one of her PATIENTS) with follow up care and I’ve been in a mess ever since due to the disorganization and lack of care on Hartford Healthcares part. For her sake I hope her negligence hasn’t caused me permanent damage. Do not go to her. Especially for women’s health.

Alison is the best APRN out there. She really cares about her patients, listens, is caring and takes action when needed. She has helped my family member tremendously. Any patient who receives Alison’s care can count their blessings.

Awful experience from the start of the app. I was at with a loved one. An hour late to come into the exam room. I asked if she forgot about us, and was told she had a crisis situation. Ok..I get it. However, I asked for specific tests to be done, as my loved one had been dealing with dizziness since AUGUST and this APRN has ordered no tests whatsoever. She copped an attitude and asked if I was a nurse then asked if I ‘googled’ the symptoms. What if I did? She tried telling my family member not to add me to her information form, left the room for yet another 15 mins. She insisted that this member had an EKG when she never did. Even after looking at her records. i was asking APPROPRIATE medical questions when she completely interrupted me and just about yelled at me saying 'I DONT EVEN NEED TO TALK TO YOU'. now again, 1 hour late to this appointment and she has the audacity to say 'i dont have time for these questions, i have other patients waiting and its not fair to them' . i then remi

I think Allison is very good.

So I am new to the area and they needed to find a new primary care physician and I was hesitant to put my trust into someone knew, but Dr Altenburger was very open and very understanding of my situation, and with her guidance so far and her knowledge has allowed me to progress in a positive way in my medical issues I would recommend her highly any one seeking a very very capable and trustworthy individual.

Full disclosure: I am biased towards APRNs over MDs in general, due to my anecdotal experience in their superior bedside manner, but I am so pleased with the care I have received from Allison and the entire staff, from reception to nursing. They truly care and have gone above and beyond to ensure follow-through and coordination with other providers. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to be treated as a person with a brain who knows their own body.
