Alicia Portuondo-Smith, NP

Dedicated, empathetic and compassionate. NP Portuondo-Smith is everything a patient would want in a provider. In an industry that has turned into quantity of patients over value of care, Alicia stays true to providing genuine care. The clinic confirms insurance before your visit, so I'm unsure how you can receive a bill. I love that she doesn't force medication but allows a collaborative more therapy approach to psychiatry and gives you options which allows you to choose.

Alicia helped my family in a time of crisis. While I wish the solution was instantaneous, she supported us through a several month period of diagnosis and medication trials until we found what med worked best for our daughter. My daughter felt increasingly comfortable with her appointments and trusted Alicia with the truth about her thoughts and experiences.

I don't understand these negative reviews - my experience was the exact opposite; Ms. Portuondo-Smith is the best mental health practitioner I have ever experienced. I had severe postpartum depression after the birth of my first child, and Alicia was so empathetic to what I was going through, and did a lot of outside research to help me find the right medications for my situation. Yes, she requires a lot of outside medical tests, but that's because an underlying medical condition can worsen depression, so I appreciated her approach. She was covered by my insurance (as were the tests) and so her cost was very reasonable. She's definitely not in this field for the money (nurse practitioners don't make much) but because she genuinely cares about her patients, and I think has particular empathy for the struggles new moms go through. She's responsive, professional, and just a genuinely kind person. I can't recommend her highly enough.

FIND SOMEONE ELSE!! This person does NOT care about your mental health. She is a only interested in money! Do not be convinced to be charged to run multple tests/ additional services or take unecessary drugs for physician write-off and kick backs! Check with your insurance first or get a large bill for unnecessary services!! Find another mental healthcare provider.
