Good medical advice communicated very poorly
After having wrist pain for a long time, I was referred by my PA to see an orthopedic hand surgeon here, to see if surgery was a good option for repairing the torn ligaments in my wrist. It turns out that my joints overall are too hypermobile for surgery to be a good option. I believe that I did receive good medical advice on that front, but the manner in which Dr. ZeHui Han communicated this was very unnecessarily rough, and I would even go as far as to say that it was rude. I made it clear to him many times that I understood what he had communicated about the fact that surgery wouldn't be helpful in my situation, but he continued to yell that at me regardless. He instructed me to 'learn to live with the pain,' but wouldn't give any advice on what that looks like. He said that all of my joints would hurt like this by the time I was 50. Overall, I received some good medical advice, but I felt that it was very poorly communicated, very demeaning, and unnecessarily discouraging.

I was told for years that my hand problem could not be fixed or improved. The first time I visited with him he asked when would I like it fixed? I made the appointment and Dr Han performed a miracle! I would call Dr Han Brilliant!

I had a wrist issue that was nagging for about a month. I got in within 48 hours of my request to be seen. Dr. Han was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He explained my issue very well. He explained my options and we came to a mutual treatment plan. The office staff were excellent. I would highly recommend.

Would give zero stars. Dr. Han was very dismissive. I was referred to him to have a painful cyst in my hand removed that I’ve had for 2.5 years. He interrupted me multiple times when I was trying to explain my pain, where the cyst was, etc. and said that he could not feel the cyst at all (mind you, the PCP who referred me to him said she could feel it and I can feel it as well.) I explained to him that the cyst had moved over time and he said that wasn’t possible. He said he could have an MRI done or refer me to one of his colleagues but he didn’t think that would be helpful and didn’t want to open my hand because he didn’t think there was anything there. He said he didn’t want to do anything about it because I still have normal hand movement. He never acknowledged that I was experiencing pain and only referred to it as “discomfort.” The whole appointment I felt like he was looking down on me and didn’t really want to figure out what was causing my pain.

If I could do 0 stars I would. Dr. Han does not care about the patients feelings. He dismisses how they’re feeling and how much pain they’re in. I’ve done everything he’s told me from the cortisone shot to physical therapy and told me I need to try harder and that he couldn’t do it for me or else I will never be able to move my hand again. I’ve never met a heartless surgeon in my life until now.

Great Experience
Dr. Han treated my 13 year old son with great care, humor and professionalism. And he usually does not treat individuals under 14. He explained the procedure and after surgery care in easy to understand language. His staff were great to work with as well. I would definitely go to Dr. Han again.
