Excellent physician and practice!
I have gone to Dr Khan for over 20 years. He also treats numerous relatives and friends and has genuinely saved the lives of several of them. Many people don’t realize that geriatric patients need a different standard of care. For instance, there are numerous medications, routinely prescribed by most doctors, that are contraindicated in older patients. There is also no need to go to a separate lab or X-ray facility for most things as they have the ability to do these things in house. A very important consideration for older people, many of whom have mobility issues. He has excellent nurse practitioners working with him and his office also has an affiliated emergency clinic which is in the same building. This area is equipped with state of the art x-ray and other diagnostic abilities and saves time, money, and frustration for minor emergencies. All in all, this is a caring and competent staff and I can’t imagine relying on anyone other practice for my healthcare.

Excellent physician with excellent staff.
I have been a patient of Dr. Khan for +/- 20 years. He is an excellent and caring physician with an equally excellent and caring staff. His diagnostic skills are superior (personal experience). I highly recommend Dr. Khan and his staff at the Center for Elderc Care.

Poor Excuse for a Doctor - if you ever see him
If you read the reviews below they are exactly correct. He brags about his career and tells you that you don’t know your own symptoms. On top of that he is never in the office and having his nurse practitioners running the practice. I know it is hard to find a physician but keep looking.

Dr. Khan's care of his patients leaves much to be desired. Followup is non-existent. Whether he actually does the hospital visits that he claims to do is suspect.

My husband took me to see Dr. Kahn first to draw blood and then the next week to go over my bloodwork and have a minor exam. I was referred to Dr. Khan by my primary care physian who was concerned that I was taking too many medications. Immediately he began to discuss all his degrees and experience. Dr. Khan was extremely arrogant, rude and non-responsive to what we were saying. He was dismissive of the other specialist I am seeing and refused to write down the info he was giving to me. I would not recommend Dr. Khan and will not be seeing him again.

I left Dr. Khan in year 2010, because of his Office Manager getting in the way! I am looking to rejoin him soon, as he was the BEST doctor I have had experience with, in 54-years! He is the only doctor who has given me a head-2-toe physical in these 54-years!

Terrible! Arrogant, very rude and superior. "I know what I'm talking about! Dr. A, you must stop diagnosing yourself." (He didn't even glance at my Rheumatologist's report.) "You don't hurt. If you do, it will stop with Vitamin D." He never mentioned the Fibromyalgia that makes my life so hard. Would not listen to me about anything. Kept harping about losing weight (I am 15 lbs. overweight.) and that I can't hurt all over. I would not take my dog to this terrible man! He is absolutely the worst physician I've ever seen and, I've met some rude ones! Especially, if you have Fibromyalgia, DO NOT visit this man. He will be your worst nightmare. I was ill for five days after my visit with a severe Fibromyalgia attack: pain, fever, feeling of having the flu, etc., even though I tried very hard to get Dr Z out of my mind. When I post this, he's going to be out of my mind forever!

I would give a NEGATIVE rating if I could! I have reported him to Medicare, BC/BS of Alabama, and the Alabama Bd of Medical Examiners. He wrote a FRAUDULENT medical record stating he performed a complete physical exam when he only spoke to me in a conference room. His CNP was personable, but her report also stated she performed a complete physical. My vitals were taken and bloodwork was done. Dr Khan (Con!!) DISMISSED all of my complaints. Told me to GOOGLE exercises for seniors. He's a FRAUD.

I am a patient of dr kahn's. I have read the other reviews and I have observed the same traits about the man. he is arrogant, a poor listener, and spends too much time bragging about himself. it is his excellent staff that keeps me as his patient. his nurse practitcioner, betsy is a qualified, professional and I have great confidence in her. just recently he has started making his office staff clean the front office. I find this very insulting and disrespectful & told him so in a letter

took my mother in law in after a recommendation because he is an elder care specialist and was extremely disappointed. He refused to listen to her as to why she was on her current medications and dismissed all of her chronic pain as Vit. D deficiency. He wanted to immediately after 1 visit pull her off of her pain medication and anti-depressants saying that people over 60 do no need those medications. He has NO bedside manner at all and would cut her off and refer to her as Dr. ****

We chose Dr Khan for our loved one who has dementia. We have been there several times for different things but do not feel he is proactive enough and we feel like we really to left to fend for ourselves while our loved one suffers...We have actual concerns but it seems as if he does not really listen you us or cares about our concerns not the behavioural problems that we live with everyday. It's definitely time to find someone new that will listen and does care... our loved ones are not cattle.

Zaheer was recommended to us after mother's apparent stroke. Dr. Zaheer Khan dismissed the MRI (from initial emergency room visit) showing possible stroke and stated nothing more than acute delirium. He stopped a few medicines from a previous Dr. and let her BP stay at 200+ until I started demanding action after 3 days. About 4 months later, while taking exam for cataract surgery, it was discovered that she lacked vision in one quadrant of each eye indicating past stroke as originally thought.

He was defensive and did not listen to anything the family had to say. I am a geriatrician and I would never treat families of patients this way...no matter how difficult or high maintenance or medically illiterate a family might be, they deserve respect as does the patient. When I attempted to find out more about my family member's care and plan upon discharge from the hospital he was rude, dismissive and hung up on me, stating he was busy.

He's arrogant and won't listen to the patient's medical history. Took my dad here twice. Both times got a total run down of how many degrees & what colleges Dr. Khan went too. Dad is seeing an infectious disease specialist for cellulitis & Dr. Khan refuses to accept his problem the infection responds to antibiotic treatments. Dr. Khan states that it's only blood seepage and what the specialist is doing will not work. He has NOT examined my dad's other issues; just put him on meds w/no exam.
