I'm seeing Dr. Gelfand now, and have seen him in the past. I've always found Dr Gelfand to be the type of person who thinks outside the box. He doesn't just throw anti-depressants at depression. He takes the whole person into account and what else is going on. And when he makes a decision, he makes it with the patient. If he was in private practice, I would see him on a regular basis.

When asking if I kept my diagnosis of bipolar disorder, along with my newly diagnosed borderline personality disorder, I was asked if I "wanted a trophy or something". I just wanted to know what kind of therapy I needed, and whether medication would help or not. Instead he treated me like I just wanted a "special status". Wouldn't recommend him whatsoever. Very rude.
