Dr. Yasmin Akhtar, MD

I am very impressed (and thankful) for the amount of time Dr. Akhtar spends with me at each visit. She takes time to explain clearly, the meaning of lab tests and scans. She addresses any current issues and always reviews my medications and asks about any new issues I may have. Last but not least--- and you would think this would be something every doctor does....but they do not--- Dr. Akhtar always listens to my heart and lungs and reviews other data collected to determine health and wellbeing. She is kind and a good listener. So glad a friend referred me to her. 10 stars !!!!!They respond in a timely manner to after hours calls as well.

I have been a patient of Dr Akhtar's for many years as I spend time in Okeechobee visiting family several times a year. From the first visit with Dr Akhtar, I knew she was a very kind and knowable physician. I have never had a physician at home in Atlanta that has shown me the kind of care and compassion that Dr Akhtar has given me. She takes her time and makes sure I understand every aspect of my care. If I have any questions, she is patient and goes over my care plan until she is sure I understand it completely. I have never had an issue with getting an appointment when I need it and always look forward to seeing her. I would highly recommend Dr Akhtar to anyone who is looking for a highly knowledgeable and caring physician.

The incompetent front desk is the worst I have ever experienced making it difficult to get an appointment.

Dr Akhtar has been my family physician for 8 years. I appreciate that she takes time to address all my concerns and is through with making certain all my RX are working for me and are compatible with other RX, and that shots and tests are up to date. The staff is amazingly accommodating and friendly. I’m so glad that she’s my doctor!

I would not ever take anyone there she dont care about her patients at all my dad is in so much pain an she wont send him back to the doc that did his surgery an she wont do it an the surgery said she waited 2 yr to send him an the clots they took out cause nerve damage in his foot due the this doc neglected respond on the matter. Malpractice is all I can say. This man is so miserable an she wont alow him to do what surgeon said to come back.

She is a wonderful physician and been seeing her for many years, also my husband and mother in law go to her. She has helped me and my family through many medical conditions and plan to let Dr. Akhtar continue with our care. Want to give a thumbs up to her staff too, they are amazing and never hesitate to help me and my family.

My mother in law travels here from Atlanta quite a bit and has established with Dr Akhtar while staying here. When she needed a total knee replacement we did not hesitate to bring her down yet again. Dr Akhtar was very through both pre and post op and made she she was totally taken care of from the time of her surgery thru post op PT. She is a very caring and compassionate and really took her time with her. She took the time to make sure all questions were answered and understood. We think she is wonderful and would recommend her to anyone.

Excellent physician. I have been seeing her for many years and she always spends her time speaking with me. She has very good bedside manner and the staff was very helpful and friendly.

She is a world class physician with incredible bed side manner. She brings a lifetime of experience and expertise while having the touch of southern hospitality that a town like Okeechobee deserves. Even though the wait times could get a little long, I highly recommend Dr. Akhtar to anyone seeking a great loving doctor who cares about you as a person!

There have been quite a few hiccups in the time that I have been her patient in the past 4 years. Mainly with her staff failing to do referrals for procedures, failing to get back with pharmacies and items as such. The average wait time is over 30 minutes in her office. She has a great bedside manner and is very good about spending adequate time with you. But that all changed when I decided to move out of state. Now that she won't be getting to bill for office visits, she refused to send a referral to the out of state doctors that I need to see to continue my care. No more dollars for her, so no help for me, even though she has been my doctor for MANY years. She is a prime example of everything that is wrong with the healthcare system these days. I would NOT reccomend her office and would NOT go there again if I was paid.

Only if there are no other choices. Dr. Akhtar is good but her staff is nasty and rude.
