Dr. Yang Roby, MD

During my appointment with Dr. Roby, I experienced several unprofessional and inappropriate behaviors. She dismissed my stated mental health concerns and did not appear to be actively listening. Instead, she repeatedly inquired about my personal life, e.g., my past relationships, who is my employer etc. despite their lack of relevance to my presenting issues. When I declined to answer, she continued to press for this information. I also found her tone to be condescending, and I felt judged and interrogated rather than supported in a therapeutic setting. No potential viable therapeutic strategies or understanding of my mental health needs were discussed.

Unfortunately, Dr. Roby makes character judgments and speaks out of both sides of her mouth. Additionally, if your values don't align exactly with hers, she becomes nasty and rude and immediately looks for ways to get you to release her from giving care rather than being honest upfront about her values and who she is willing to treat. Ultimately, this is not a provider capable of seeing beyond her own biases to provide consistent treatment. I'd be wary.

My experience with Dr. Roby was outside of my normal interactions with Healthcare providers, which has generally been positive. As other reviewers stated, she has her own agenda & biases. She's fatphobic, based on no labs or quantifiable weight - just telehealth video & will constantly tell you to lose weight without getting your opinion or history on the matter. She also put me on more meds for a diagnosis to get me off 1 med she 'didn't like.' So when I left for a different provider, I was on several more medications for that issue than just the one she didn't like. She also failed to mention that these extra meds she put me on could interact & cause a life threatening heart condition, which I found out with my new provider who promptly sent me for an EKG after my first mtg with them. Even my new pharmacist knew to mention the drug interaction. I rarely leave reviews, but the this experience was so concerning & made my mental health worse for seeing her.

I have been with Dr. Roby nearly 3 years, from her prior job to her current private practice. Dr. Roby struck me as the only psychiatrist who really CARE. She is very professional, kind and knowledgeable on pharmachological managment. I am really grateful to have her as my psychiatrist.

I had very good experience with Dr. Roby a few years ago during the peak time of COVID when several of my colleagues got hit by the virus and I got hit by the stress. Dr. Roby was very professional and knowledgeable in stress and anxiety management. She’s patient and explained in detail different medication options. If, though hopefully not, next episode of anxiety hits me, I’ll definitely see her again.

I have been under the care of Dr. Roby for almost three years now. Initially, I sought her services at Gladstone, and after she established her own private practice, I continued seeing her at Innerpeace Psychiatric Services. I have full confidence in her abilities for medication management, as well as in her extensive background. Dr. Roby excels in her profession, demonstrating warmth, compassion, and attentive listening during our sessions. I wholeheartedly recommend her to others seeking psychiatric care.

I’ve been under Dr. Roby’s care nearly three years before she opened her own practice Innerpeace Psychiatric Services. Prior to her, I’ve been through at least two psychiatrists and one NP. Dr. Roby is the only one who really CARES. I know there are a lot of providers who listen but they don’t hear you. I have been sent off in 10 mins at the most with prior providers, Dr. Roby is the only one who spends time to find my difficulties, empowers me when I was weak, highlight my strengths, works on my goals… she is different from other providers not only because she is excellent with medication management, but also works with you with a therapeutic approach. I really think she is one of the best psychiatrist you can find in the area.

Dr. Roby is great at her job. Very professional and easy to talk to. She is very supportive and provides meaningful information as it pertains to my lifestyle and treatment.

When I started seeing Dr. Roby, I couldn't leave the house or the room...but today finally working part time I'm almost able to live like I did before, almost.

Dr. Roby is professional, caring, and attentive in my care. I have struggled with mental health for a long time, and she was the first person who helped me accept myself. She makes informed medication choices, patiently explaining everything. I appreciate her use of mindfulness and meditation alongside medications. I genuinely believe she deserves five stars for her excellent service.

Working with Dr. Roby has been a positive experience. She skillfully adjusts medications and dedicates time to self-care, especially mindfulness. She shared her mindfulness practice and recommended useful resources. Now, mindfulness is a part of my routine, thanks to her guidance. Dr. Roby's dedication to long-term well-being sets her apart. I believe her genuine care for patients, along with her commitment to mindfulness, greatly enhances her approach to medication management.

Dr. Yang Roby is absolutely wonderful. She listens, addresses any questions and concerns with kindness, explains her suggestions and reasoning in full and in a way that is easy to understand. She cares deeply about her patients and making sure they are taking the medication(s) best suited to their needs and who they are as an individual. She understands that medications aren't a once size fits all sort of situation. I feel lucky to have her as part of my care team and wouldn't want any other psychiatrist to work with. I've been seeing her for over a year and am very satisfied with my experience.

I have been seeing Dr. Roby for the past three years. After seeing a few other psychiatrists in the past that were not helpful, I was in a dark place and was fortunate to be connected with Dr. Roby. Dr. Roby has been extremely supportive to me over the past few years, has worked with me on finding the right medications, and is never judgmental if I get off track. I have gone through some personal and professional challenges lately, which may have sent me in the wrong direction in the past, but Dr. Roby has helped connect me with other resources and meets with me once a week to make sure that I continue in a positive direction. I highly recommend Dr. Roby and have found her to be one of the best psychiatrists in the area.

Dr. Roby's been amazing with my husband for the past two years. Dealing with all the challenges, she's been super understanding. She talks to him, really listens to what he needs, and she doesn't stop there. she goes out of her way to touch base with me, gathering all the info she needs and making sure we're on the same page about his care and treatment. We're both really thankful for all she's done for us. Seriously, we can't recommend her enough!

I'm no stranger to psychiatrists - those I've seen have been indifferent at best and dismissive and judgmental at worst. Dr. Roby is the first to actually CARE about me and my mental health needs. While I see her primarily for medication management, she takes an active interest in all aspects of my care. It's not an instance of she simply asks how I am, writes a new prescription, and shoos me out the door. She takes the time to talk to me and to determine the best course of action. Her soft-spoken, gentle tone makes me feel comfortable and I never, ever feel judged. Because of her dedication, we both learned I was underdosed and had been for years. My life has improved so much just because she knew to ask the right questions - questions that other psychiatrists didn't even bother with. I appreciate Dr. Roby so much and will gladly recommend her to anyone!

I was initially taken aback by some of the reviews I read on this website. BUT My personal experience with Dr. Roby has been exceptional. I have been under her care for nearly three years, a period during which I have faced numerous challenges in my life. Throughout this time, Dr. Roby has consistently shown unwavering compassion for my situation. She has a wealth of knowledge and approaches her work with genuine passion. During our sessions, she takes the time to listen and assess my wellness comprehensively, offering invaluable advice. Importantly, she respects my autonomy, allowing me to make decisions about my own well-being, even when they haven't always been the best choices. Yet, she is always there to catch me when I fall, providing the support I need to navigate difficult moments. I am deeply grateful to have found a psychiatrist like Dr. Roby who genuinely cares about her patients. I am fortunate to have her by my side on this journey to recovery.

I have been seeing Dr. Roby for about two years and she has always been attentive to my mental health needs as they change from time to time. I am treated for multiple diagnoses and so it can be complicated managing my meds but she does a great job. I have never had to wait for her when it’s time for my appointments. She is patient, kind, and open-minded. I highly recommend her.

I have been seeing Dr. Roby for a while now. She is very kind and listens to what I have to say. She has always given me good advice and suggestions to help me through whatever current situation is going on. Dr. Roby makes you feel very at ease and very comfortable to talk to about anything. Dr. Roby has been an amazing help to me for the past 2 years. She listens to all of the circumstances going on in my life and asks important questions to gain a clear picture of what my needs are. She is very patient and kind. She is also accessible and replies quickly when I need her. I can't recommend her highly enough.

Dr. Roby came into our first appointment and within minutes made it clear she disagreed with over half of my diagnoses. She would not listen to me. She was made transphobic comments, referring to my gender as a “preference” among other things. She refused to refill a medication that I have been on for 3 years and has been extremely helpful because it interacts with another condition I have which I decided with a prior doctor was a balance I was willing to take. The last time I went off this medication with no tapering, my resting heart rate was 180 bpm. She insisted that I needed to be in a therapeutic program that I had been in for 5 years and graduated from. Very often talked about how she went to medical school and made comments disparaging the diagnoses and treatments from other providers. Would give zero stars if I could. She should not be providing care to patients.
