Do NOT go to Dr. Ren!
Dr. Ren was put on probation with the medical board due to many issues, beginning 6 years ago. Look him up on the California Medical boards website. I can't believe Scripps Health Care continues to employ him.

Pleasant and Effective Care
I saw Dr. Ren at Scripps Mission Valley for a knee injury. Dr. Ren read my chart in detail and asked a lot of appropriate history questions before conducting his exam. The exam was thorough and complete. He ordered X-rays and gave me a personal follow-up phone call to discuss the results. I was Impressed with his care.

regular doctor on vacation, i needed a narcotic cough syrup for throat condition have been taking for some time. Dr Ren refused to prescribe the normal amount, giving me only about 3 days worth. He is on a one man crusade to prevent people from getting meds they need. Stay away from him if you need pain relieving meds.

He would not return my calls for a question on medications. He also coded a charge so that Medicare would not pay it. When I tried to talk to him about it he refused to call me back. I Will not use him again.

Would not return my call for urgent need to relieve pain. Never did apologize or explain why he didn't call me. Waited over the weekend and Monday and then demanded he return my call. Nurse called with no explanation. Switched primary care to another doctor.
