Dr. Winona Belmonte, MD

I met Dr. Belmonte while in an inpatient rehabilitation facility. It was Sunday 7 PM the day before a holiday and the nurse told me a doctor was coming in to see me. I thought there was no way any doctor was going to be working so late, especially before holiday, but to my surprise I met Dr. Belmonte. She spent about an hour with me and really went above and beyond, and I have high expectations. She is the smartest doctor I had ever met and never once did I feel judged by her. If you are looking for a provider just to get narcotics she's not the one to see hence the other reviews. If you actually want a provider that's going to try and help your symptoms with the medications available on the market she will do everything she can to help you.

Cut me off from medication that I was on for years cold turkey. I almost had to be hospitalized. AVOID THIS PERSON.

I found that she ignored my concerns and focused on aspects of my mental health that bothered her rather than the ones that made my life difficult. Existing with multiples diagnoses should not reduce my level of care. I found this disrespect to my autonomy as well as her inability to provide adequate care to be incredibly dehumanizing and unprofessional. My appointment felt like an attempt to deceive me to fit her needs.

I explicitly told her which medications I did not want to be on and she ignored me. She prescribed medication I explicitly told her I didn’t want to be on. I feel violated.
