Condescending and needs to retire
As a patient with chronic autoimmune issues, I’ve seen many doctors—but Dr. Young (Mayo Clinic) was the most condescending. Despite abnormal labs and clear symptoms, he began our appointment by saying, “I don’t know why you’re here,” dismissed my notes, and ran half-hearted tests before discharging me. Another Mayo doctor found an adrenal nodule, but Dr. Young insisted nothing was wrong. A second opinion revealed critical errors: he never checked my potassium (required for aldosterone testing) and ignored testing protocols and medication interference, invalidating results.Twenty months later, I was diagnosed with Conn’s syndrome—proof his arrogance overrode proper care. I’m now pursuing treatment at Cleveland Clinic, hoping for a surgical cure. A “national expert” failed me; and probably many others.

Recently went to Mayo Rochester for further testing related to my pituitary tumor. The nurse had me fasting and limiting my diet the day prior. I get to the appointment expecting at the very least some lab work. After meeting with him and his fellow they could not agree on my MRI results and refused the lab work I had come for. They wanted their own radiologist to read my MRI and the Mayo radiologists reconfirmed I do have a tumor. So I left being completely dismissed, told I have a tumor I already knew I had, starving, and paying for a visit that accomplished nothing to help my symptoms. I think it may be time for this doctor to retire . It’s a shame he is training other young doctors to be as ignorant and dismissive as he is.

One star is more than Dr. Young deserves.
I went to this appointment prepared and ready for answers. I received simple elementary answers brushing off any concerns I had. Dr. Young even pulled up my MRI and could not find my brain tumor himself so he determined that it wasn’t there anymore. I’ve never left any doctor visit so angry and depressed. It’s unbelievable that he’s allowed to speak to patients!

Condescending and Dismissive
Even with a known hormonal tumor, Dr. Young dismisses my concerns and will not listen. I am incredibly disappointed with the "care" I have received and will not be returning for my health's sake. He has not followed up and my polite email went ignored. I do not trust Dr. Young as my doctor.

Similar to the experience of many of the other reviewers on here, Dr. Young was extremely dismissive of my concerns & his answer to everything was to refer out to other specialties so as to avoid any effort on his part. Even if you've already seen other specialties who have referred you to endocrinology due to their suspecting you may have underlying endocrinological issues, Dr. Young will still deny that any symptom at all is related to hormones, so that he won't have to do his job. The way he dismisses every issue, you'd think absolutely nothing in the human body is a hormone. Unfortunately, he was also rude & condescending, which is really not okay, especially at a prestigious place like Mayo. If you're looking for someone with practical knowledge of endocrinology or a willingness to try to assess/diagnose/treat/put in an ounce of effort or even just exhibit a degree of empathy/bedside manner, then this is most likely not the provider for you.

My experience fits with the other 1-star reviewers. I went with an open mind and regret not listening to the other reviewers. I wasted my time. He didn't do one test. He just looked at me and declared I was fine. I didn't go to Mayo for a difficult problem to be dismissed so carelessly. Even my endocrinologist at home thought I was in the right area. Other doctors I saw at Mayo ran endocrine tests because he wouldn't. I would NOT recommend him to anyone.

He is very nice and friendly but automatically told me my symptoms don't fall in the endocrine department. He even stoop as low as to tell me to starve myself. Not worth seeing. He was quick to write my symptoms off and shoo me out the door. I left feeling more depressed before I enter his office. So don't see him unless you want to feel crazy and depressed.

Dr Young is very nice and friendly but unless you have symptoms that Helen Keller could diagnose, don't bother going to see him. He isn't going to go out on a limb and try and figure out what is wrong with you. He will just refer you out for treatment of your symptoms.

He is the only doctor that I have been to that understood my condition. He knows his stuff and takes time to explain things and answer questions. I am so lucky my doctor referred me to him.
