Saw Dr. Tanner once in June, after 3months of unresponsiveness to get an appt; have not had any follow-ups since. Whenever my son, my health insurance, pharmacies &/or myself call, we can NEVER get anyone on the phone. We leave messages but they don't return our call after the 3rd or 4th message left over a week & half time (as a working professional, you should return calls within 2 business days). He recommended an Endo/Colonsocopy in June but we never heard back from him. It took them 4months to finally get his infusion dosage & intervals correct after repeatedly verbally requests & written message to his office from my Health ins. advocate & nurses (when they could've simply looked at my son's former GI Peds file notes indicating same); plus we're used to getting labs done before every treatment (every 6wks). Unfortunately, the only one done was twice in Oct, as Tanner's office never submitted the 1st order, so his blood was discarded & had to be re-drawn when the order was sent.

It was my first appointment with Dr Tanner, and it was also the last appointment of the day. When Dr Tanner entered the room his demeanor was unwelcoming. I asked how he was doing and he said that he’ll be glad when he leaves the office, and that was not said on a jokingly way. His whole attitude and body language made me feel like he was so inconvenienced that I was the last appointment of the day and he had to sit there and listen to my complaints. Since I was a new patient, he did not welcome me in any way. He’s not the doctor for me. Going elsewhere.

WOKE UP SCREAMING! In the middle of the colonoscopy I woke up to feel what felt like a broomstick slammimg into me. Afterwords Dr. Tanner said there were "complications". Well he was right. within 3 months I had developed a smell in my groin that was tested and found to be bacteria from my colon. I was also diagnosed with prostatitis. where the bacteia had leaked into it. Long story short, I visited 6 doctors, had numerous things inserted, had an MRI, sonogram and more. I have been on antibiotics for nearly 2 years trying to stop the infection in my prostate. I attempted to sue but believe it or not, this is an anticipated side effect of the procedure. I never had any issue with my "plumbing" until this and it is a disgrace that this can count as collateral damage. When I got all of my medical records from Tanner's office, there is no record of any of this having happened. Nothing unusual, it said. If this is not unusual then you should run away as far as you can.

I have been seeing Dr. Tanner since about 2000. He and his staff have all been great and professional.

Prior to my colonoscopy I contacted both Dr. Tanner's office and my insurance company to make sure that the procedure was covered. I was told that it was. Subsequently I received a bill for $500 from a lab in Memphis where they had sent a specimen for analysis. My insurance company refused to pay for the bill because it was not "preventative." I was not told in advance that this testing was going to be done and that I would have to pay for it.

I am 66 years old. I began having colonoscopies when I was 50. Of the four (4) gastroenterologists, I visited over the past 16 years, Dr. Tanner is by far the best. His skills, patience and thoroughness were unbelievably awesome. While a potentially malignant mass was found, his guidance, recommendations and follow-through saved my life. In my estimation, Dr. Tanner is the one to see for the best gastrointestinal care in the metro Atlanta area!
