I had the same experience with office staff. The head of the office is Amy, Dr. Shay's wife. She admitted that staff had made mistakes in scheduling labs that Medicare would not pay for, and then became very defensive when I asked questions about scheduling further labs and office visits. My husband and I are new to Medicare and he had recent heart stent placement. Amy became upset, called my husband a liar, and dropped my husband as a patient. What was a simple misunderstanding became a distressing incident . It is too bad because we liked Dr. Shay as a doctor, but now that his staff does "not want to deal with our problems", I won't be taking my 88 yr. old mother back to him either.

Very rude office staff. My parents were told not to return to the office due to a missed appointment. My Dad is hard of hearing and has trouble understanding things at times. Dr. Shay's wife spoke to him on the phone complaining that it took her 30 minutes to explain a situation. I thought that was part of their job? They clearly have no compassion for the elderly and their disabilities!

Very good doctor. Only bad thing is he does not practice at any hospital, so if you need to be hospitalized, you will be assigned a hospital doctor or need to find one.

Dr. Shay was recommended to me and when I first met him was very impressed with him and how he and his staff were. I went back over the past month and a total change of attitude. Poor communication from all of the office staff and was told that the staff is correct and I was wrong for stating that they did anything wrong after I stated the nurse lied about phone calls and phone numbers being called. Even when I was told that my results had been attached to someone else's chart.
