I was with him for two years... anger issues.
He shared too much about his personal life. We were going through the pleasantries of greeting each other. I said, Hi how are you? He said 'My wife Lauren left me for a woman three months ago, and I've been miserable ever since. I want her to go to therapy to see if she's too (into women) to stay with me'. This isn't a mistake, he's told multiple patients this and you can read multiple stories in Reddit. He also told me he put a gun in his mouth and was about to pull the trigger, but a patient found him, so he didn't.I have so many stories, but yea the other reviews on here are right. He does filter his reviews. And he's quick to anger. I've seen him yell at his staff, his patients and even the lab tech stationed there by Questlabs. It was unnecessary because the lab woman told him, he is number three in the cue and they will fax us the results in three minutes. He also yelled at Stacy, who was waiting at the fax. Like? Stacy can't make it go faster.

Pretentious
Telehealth
Dr. Powers believes he knows everything and does not listen well to his patients or their concerns. Though he proclaims to be supportive of affirming healthcare, he boasts a theory that trans people are not REALLY trans but have hormonal imbalances he can fix. This approach to trans healthcare further hurts and already struggling population. In addition, he believes that NSAIDS (like ibuprofen) are a g-d send to those in pain even when it is communicated that they do not work. I would not wish this physician on anyone.

Stand up guy who is willing to listen
Dr. Powers is a great dude. He's blunt, and in-your-face... but to be honest that is kind of what most people need in a doctor. It takes someone who cares to actually tell you the truth even if you don't want to hear it. He respects your time and never leaves you without the info you need and is willing to dig into a concern you have vs blowing you off. I've been seeing him for 3 years and during that time he helped me diagnose a rare autoimmune condition that had been blown off by so many doctors for almost a decade. I love that he involves YOU in your care vs being told what is going to happen.I also apricate his 'what can I do for you' approach to medicine. He's there to listen and give suggestions but never pushes anything on you. Even mundane concerns like 'make my skin look nicer' are things he takes as seriously and detailed as 'what do I hurt all the time'

he and his staff yelled at me.
I went in for a lactose test which consists of drinking a liter of lactose and having your blood tested every hour on the hour. The test takes all day and they refused to let me use the restroom and I peed in my shorts four times. What goes in must come out. Nobody apologized.

Dedicated and intelligent, although may come across as a bit eccentric or arrogant. Is willing to nonjudgmentally help all sorts of patients with their individual treatment goals and will put in the extra time/effort to figure out complex cases. Has cats.

Fantastic practice!
I was seen by an NP at the practice. She took time in the appointment, didn't rush, and answered questions candidly and fully. She referred me to other doctors as needed and addressed all my concerns.

Too busy
Dr. Powers himself is great. He’s super smart and knows what he’s talking about. However, his practice is so big now that the care is just not there. Having one doctor to 3,000 patients is absurd. Pros: Extremely intelligent doctor that other doctors go to him for advice Cons: * Unprofessional office staff Constant back and forth of emails instead of calling the person to discuss the issue. Rude, bad attitudes. They even send request forms to the wrong patients. * Phone lines always seems to be messed up. Good luck even getting ahold of the office * Rants online (FB) about billing and other issues that affect people (that’s embarrassing to those who are affected by these rants) * Communication about the practice, like if it’s closed or whatnot, is posted on FB. What happens if you don’t have FB? No other medical office that I know of does that. Call the patient if someone has an appointment and there is an issue at the office where you are closed.

Excellent Care!
My eleven year-old son started seeing Dr. Powers at Powers Family Medicine five months ago and we’ve been absolutely blown away by the quality of care he has received. He’s been a bit of an enigma up until this point in regards to treatment and has developed a distrust of medical providers due to past experiences. That has quickly changed thanks to Dr. Powers, his wonderful staff and their unique practice! He’s beginning to flourish now thanks to the spot-on treatment and quite honestly considers Dr. Powers a mentor for reasons I won’t go into here. If you’re looking for a team that truly cares for and respects their patients, PFM will not disappoint! As mentioned, we’re still new to the office, but for once I look forward to scheduling appointments/reaching out for advice vs. it being a chore/drama-filled endeavor. I look forward to many more years of care at this office and am excited to see it and the Powers Family grow!

Seriously the best medical professional I have ever encountered. I literally drive four hours round-trip to see this man. The office environment, the staff, and the professionalism of Dr. Powers is without peer. He explains things in a way that I understand them, yet doesn’t make me feel silly for asking. He answers my questions, and makes me feel heard. I honestly don’t understand these negative reviews, I have to assume that a lot of them are coming from people who have not been able to get into his practice. The man is one person, and has a waiting list months long.

I just called the office to report that my husband (who was a patient of Dr. Powers) had passed away recently. No condolences, not anything. Just put me on hold until they had time to “deal with it.” When I asked if my daughter had an appointment there because I found some documents in my husbands belongings indicating that he was filling out forms for her to become a new patient, I was told “I’m not at liberty to discuss this” and “dr powers is not accepting new patients” and a hang up. Maybe dr powers is a great physician but because he has such rude and unsympathetic staff I’m inclined to think he’s the same. the damage has been done

I had another bad experience with your front desk workers. I asked if I could use the rest room. They ignored me completely. No greeting, no one minute finger gesture, they didn't even GLANCE at me. They didn't hear me talking to them & open and close the door twice, or see a black mass go up to the window? You didn't even investigate who entered or left? You didn't ask your people who was that who just came in and left? I may have defecated outside. Where was I supposed to go? Every place won't let you use the restroom because of covid.
