Dr. William Merritt, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Merritt for three years. He is the best, most caring, most compassionate, physician I could ever ask for. He tells it to you straight. All of the staff at SCOA are wonderful as well. Every professional care giver I have met has been great. I have been able to get appointments to fit my schedule. He always explains fully the condition and the options for care.

After seeing multiple GYN’s I was finally referred to SC Oncology. I was lucky to find him available to see me. He was thorough and was conservative in his medical approach. Biopsies meant a hysterectomy and he was an amazing surgeon. I’m healing unbelievably well. Can’t say enough good things.

The atmosphere in his office is wonderful very calm clean. Thanks Anita.The lady's are very nice, helpful. I was very comfortable and well cared for my nurses and stuff. Susie his Nurse is a very sweet and gentle person.Dr. Merritt was just as I was told, understandind, patient. Great at what he does. I Thank them all for my Care.

Dr. Merritt is a very caring person who is devoted to making sure his patients receive the best care possible. He scheduled me in for surgery when he had very little availability and I was so happy to finally have it done. I think his staff is professional and courteous, even when it is challenging because I can be difficult. He goes the extra mile particularly in communicating about treatment options, procedures and recovery.

Dr. Merritt is gentle, thorough and cares; I so appreciate his bedside manner. I am so glad he and his nursing assistant are there to help me.

I have been with him for several years. I cannot understand the bad reviews. He has been honest, compassionate, and approachable. My surgery and subsequent recovery period (spring 2017) went about as smoothly as possible. The entire staff at South Carolina Oncology Associates have been friendly and efficient. I have had to reschedule a few appointments and have always been accommodated quickly and with understanding of my situation. I drive 3 1/2 hours to see Dr. Merritt and feel the long drive is more than worth it. Women in my area with the same kind of cancer have not had the same experiences with the local oncologists. I can say without a doubt that treatment by Dr. Merritt has prolonged my life and enhanced its quality.

If I had known then, what I know now, I'd never have allowed my loved one to go to Merritt. He withheld information that, in my opinion, made the difference between life and death, and having lost that loved one (for which I hold him fully accountable), now, I know better. Never again. I'd never go back to SC Oncology, and I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone go to him.

Excellent bedside manner! He listened to my concerns. He made me feel very comfortable and at ease. He is experienced and professional yet very humble. The entire staff is excellent! All the nurses are caring and always available. I feel I am in the best hands; receiving the best care.

I wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy.
