No pain, all gain cervical C3-4-5 foraminotomy
I had chronic neck pain with intermittent tingling atop my right shoulder. Congenital rheumatoid arthritis was pinching the C4 nerve in my neck. I new what surgery I needed because, 13 years prior, I had shooting pain down my arm that was fixed via cervical C5-6, C-7 foraminotomy. Dr. Beringer's reviews were very convincing. My PCP, Dr. Stuart Lerner, concurred. Fortunately, Beringer didn't reject me for having previous neck surgery. During my first visit, he verifyied my symptoms and agreed with my diagnosis. After a brief conversation, he asked 'So, do you want me to do your neck?'. I quickly accepted his offer. His time is scarce. The surgical team at Castle hospital was superb. My confidence sored when my anesthesiologist showed me the scar from when Beringer installed two artificial discs in his neck. I went home that day and took NO PAIN PILLS post-op. Two weeks later, I no longer thought about my neck.If you need spine surgery on Oahu, Beringer is THE guy.

Negligent
Dismissive. I never returned to that practice again . Went to The Cleveland Clinic on mainland and they ordered new MRI, a CT scan and lumbar x-rays. They immediately discovered a further detail of the scenario which qualifies me for a decompression surgery which has caused 24/7 bilateral parenthesis & nerve dermatomes with muscle atrophy in hip and buttocks & both legs FOR TWO years. This completely fixed the problem that he said he “couldn’t do a thing with. He completely glossed over the real problem and diagnosed it as a muscle spam, what!? Cleveland clinic gave me the proper treatment needed. I’m so disappointed with him that he did not not see the facts as they were. It’s negligent in my opinion. I hope this helps just one person to know my story and how he treated me.

EXCELLENT surgeon, not a customer service stop
He knows what he is doing! My mom went to two other doctors and they told us to get more complicated surgeries. He told her he could fix her problem with a one level surgery. He is THE neck guy on island. If you are looking for hand holding and kissing babies, go to your local politician - he is EXCELLENT at his craft, HANDS DOWN.

Highly Qualified
My first contact with Dr. Beringer’s office staff gave me comfort and hope that I had not felt in a long time . My life has since been restored and pain and degenerating condition stopped. He is extremely qualified high-end DO neuro-surgeon who performs newer next level disc replacement. No fusion. If you are fortunate to be seen by this physician - do not hesitate. I work in litigation firm. I know quality med care. Dr. Beringer is extremely qualified, thorough, compassionate and a genuinely nice person.

Disappointed very unprofessional
Very disappointed! My father 83 and I Went to visit Dr Behringer in Kailua. Wait about 50 min in small office. I asked receptionist if everything is ok? My appointment is 12:00. receptionist said, Dr Beringer was in emergency surgery.. that’s why he is late. I said, you should’ve tell me he will be late. That’s only thing I said. She said, well.. you never asked omg! So when I meet Dr Beringer, he looked super irritated with me and first thing he tells me” I am a Neurosurgeon And this state has only 9 neurosurgeon in island and you should be compromise with my schedule?! Basically saying, he is super busy Doctor! He was very unpleasant! Treating new patients with no respect without saying sorry for the delate instead of blame me. Definitely, I would not go back to that place! My father and I don’t deserve his manner. Nobody deserves this kind of manner

Great surgeon. I basically couldn’t walk before my L 4-5 TLIF surgery and when I awoke from surgery I had no sciatica pain. Not only is he a great Neurosurgeon but he also has excellent bedside manner and a pleasure to speak to.

SAVED MY LIFE!!!
I was on vacation in Honolulu when suddenly I couldn't get out of bed or able to empty bowel or bladder. After an ambulance trip to Queens Dr. Beringer was asked to "check me out." It's a good thing he did because he IMMEDIATELY spotted Caude Equine Syndrome and scheduled me for immediately surgery to avoid permanent paralysis. During a laminectomy, Dr. Beringer expertly spotted a piece of broken off disc floating in the spinal column. He removed it and things started to flow again. He originally warned me that I might never be able to get out of bed again, but after a year and a half of physical therapy I can WALK WITH A CANE!!! Mahalo, Doctor!

Great Neurosurgeon and Wonderful Staff
Had a laminectomy, the staff made the process very easy. Dr. Berenger explained the procedure in detail. He checked in me in the hospital and followed up after surgery. I definitely would recommend him if you are looking for a neurosurgeon, His Physician Assistant Sue is extremely thorough as well.

I am very pleased and satisfied with how Dr. Beringer handled my case professionally. My situation was very severe that I needed spinal surgery right away. My first appointment was on 7/26/17 that was the first time I meet him. He took the time to explain and reviewed my MIR results. He also used models and the X-rays to expand my knowledge on how bad my situation was at. He had a tight schedule and was able to do the the surgery on 7/31/17. Great doctor, great service and very professional.

I Believe this Surgeon has left the Boise Area, however, He is an excellent surgeon & practitioner. He was the primary surgeon when I had a C6C7 disc replacement. He worked with me to ensure I was able to have coverage and approval for the artificial disc as opposed to fusion. My outcome was fantastic! I had very little pain post surgically & was up walking the halls wanting to go home w/in approximately 8hrs after surgery. He was respectful, consciencious, responsible, etc.

After waiting for two years, seeing an orthopedic surgeon in Honolulu and a neurosurgeon in California I finally got to see somebody who gave me a strait-forward explanation for why me leg hurts. After he showed me my MRI and the EMG I had 4 months ago I get it. I am having minimally invasive surgery next month with Beringer.

In December on 2014, Dr. Berringer discovered a very serious problem in my neck that could have paralyzed me, and since I had felt no pain, I had no idea there was anything wrong. He immediately performed surgery. I had very little pain and was back to life almost instantly. Thanks Dr. Berringer!
