Dr. William Abide, MD

After having to locate a good cardiologist for my mother’s care years ago who was seeing one that was not good at all, I found myself needing a cardiologist years later. I went through two that were closer to me before I decided to drive further to see Dr. Abide. Because of my mother’s heart issues and my own, I have seen cardiologists that in my opinion ranged from not so good to down right bad. It is well worth the drive to see Dr. Abide —fortunately he is also in a New Braunfels location now. Dr. Abide truly cares about the individual patient, their health issues and their concerns. He takes the time to explain things and does not get frustrated or angry with patient questions. He does not try to force treatment on a patient in any way. He is experienced, knowledgeable, patient and kind. He is not egotistical and prideful as I have found other cardiologists to be. Wish I could give him 10 stars!

Both my wife and I are his patients and have found him to be excellent (medical knowledge, manner, timeliness and frankly, fun to work with also). He truly cares about his patients and speaks in an easy-to-understand way - no small achievement in a medical area full of "foreign" references most people know little about. We both came away with the belief that he was in the business for our well-being and not for his wallet or precious & valuable time. We do not hesitate in recommending Dr. Abide to others.

The whole staff at Austin Heart is professional, courteous and emphasizes safety and on-time appointments. I highly recommend Dr. Abide and give him my top rating.

These folks are extremely professional and take the time to explain everything to you. Its scary when you are messing with your heart after all it is the main component that makes everything happen in your body !

Receptionist was welcoming and efficient. Was seen on time. Doctor and nurse very friendly and helpful. Was not rushed when conversing with Doctor. All in all, a very good experience.

I did not have to wait long. The intake nurse was very professional (kind, patient, and helpful). Dr. Abide seemed genuinely interested in my case. He took his time and listened carefully to me, and he took my concerns seriously. I will definitely continue to see him.

Saw his Nurse Practitioner this time, but she was great in listening and prescribing what should be done.

I first visited with Meagan, PA, who is friendly and thorough. After she talked with me for a while, Dr. Abide entered. He always listens to me and never talks down to me. He is friendly and concerned for my well being. He suggested a treatment option for my complaint and told me to contact him if I did not improve soon. I feel that I can contact him or his staff if I have a question and that question will be answered.

I moved to San Marcos and felt I needed a cardiologist closer than Bryan/College Station. My cardiologist in the past had been my doctor for over 10 years so I really didn’t want to change but knew I needed one closer. A friend recommended Dr. Abide so I chose him. He was amazing. I was very nervous going to someone new but immediately he relieved my anxiety. I highly recommend Dr. Abide.

First visit with Doctor William Abide Jr. he was very easy to talk to. He also took his time to listen to my symptoms and concerns. I already revered him to a friend. Austin Heart in San Marcos is a wonderful place.

Dr. Abide is an outstanding physician, very personable, taking his time to update my file with any changes in medication and/or medical emergency since my last visit. He took his time to answer my questions in a manner easy to understand and fully explained changes he is prescribing in my medication. He also discussed Covid-19 and precautions to take to stay healthy.

talked about results of tests in San Antonio for PH. Talked about plan of action. He makes you feel like family.
