Best hip and knee replacement surgeon and team
I live in Austin, TX and searched for the best hip replacement doctor I could find. I had gone through a lot of PT in my life and Ryan at Texas Orthopedics is the best PT person I have ever gone to). I wasn't able to make long term progress with my hip and it was time to replace it. Ryan strongly recommended Doctor Parker Abblitt. Ryan works closely with Dr. Abblitt and I wanted a surgeon with good post operation PT communicaton. I researched on my own and met with several top rated surgeon's. Dr. Abblitt was by far the choice for me. From the moment I chose Dr. Abblitt, I felt excited to get it done. I had surgery scheduled and completed within a few weeks of my decission. I've never experienced a surgery from beginning to end with the compatency, professionalism, and caring that I had with Dr. Abblitt and at the Texas Orthopedic surgery center. I was cared for by the best.

Total Knee Replacement
I've been impressed with. Dr. Abblitt from first contact through the entire process thus far. Dr. Abblitt did not rush to a knee replacement. He tried a number of less invasive treatments from steroids, serums, and PT, before concluding that a total knee replacement was the best decision. He has listened to my concerns and offered options. I have been very impressed. I will have the replacement at a near future date. I have gone from concern and hesitation to 'Let's do this'!Dr. Parker's PA (Brinley)Brinley has accompanied Dr. Abblitt on each and every visit. A couple of times, I saw only Brinley. She has been extremely knowledgeable and professional. She provided answers to my questions regarding the specifics of my treatment and recovery. Dr. Abblitt and she are a great team.I'll provide an update after my surgery!

Total Knee Replacement - C. Black – Feb 02, 2025

Dismissive, poor listener
Dr. Ablitt didn't listen and was very dismissive when I asked him about performing arthrocentesis on my mother's knee (she has pseudogout). Her knee was clearly very swollen with fluid, but he said the fluid would come back within a day. When I said 'That fast?' he made an ugly face like he was insulted by the question and said yes with no explanation at all. He clearly didn't like being questioned at all. When I said I'd read on the Mayo clinic website that Arthrocentesis helps treat pseudogout by removing some of the crystals from the knee, he said that wasn't true. I guess the Mayo clinic is an unreliable source. Avoid.

Osteoarthritis-Hip replacement at 55 yrs.
I was referred to Abblitt by the renowned Dr. Tad Gerlinger of Chicago who mentored Abblitt as a fellow. Gerlinger reported Abblitt had the best hands of any fellow he had seen. I reached out to Abblitt who is now at Texas Orthopedics in the Austin area. From the first appointment, Abblitt was compassionate, and easy to talk with about options and the level of deterioration in my hip. We discussed the fact that I qualified for a total hip replacement. At my second appt/pre-surgical, we reviewed the surgical approach and agreed upon an anterior minimally invasive procedure at an outpatient surgical center as I had no comorbidity issues. Abblitt's clinical and surgical team were awesome and handled everything well, including, my allergies to surgical adhesives (learned of this after 2 total knee replacements) and having a tendency to be nauseated with anesthesia. From first appt 6/7/2023 to release from post surgical rehab 8/30/2023, Abblitt respectful to me, inquisitive patient.
