Dr. Wes Powell, MD

I had a small outpatient surgery today. Dr. Powell assured me I'd be fine and I am. The front office staff are wonderful, I knew I'd made a great choice when I walked in. Thank you so much to all of you!

Dr. Powell performed gastric bypass surgery on me nearly twenty two years ago on December 27, 2002. Let me start by saying I had absolutely no unpleasant experience with Dr. Powell. I weighed in at about 300 pounds and it melted right off. My goal was to lose 110 pounds, but I overachieved, and lost 120 pounds! I have been cruising at 180 pounds pretty much ever since. If I’m this happy after all this time, I feel qualified to recommend Dr. Wes Powell to you. Mileage matters! He’s a serious surgeon, with great bedside manner. However, sometimes the humorous Texan in him comes out and he’s a hilarious hoot! Oh, with my insurance my out of pocket copay was only $100.00! Yours may vary depending on your insurance, but if you have insurance, you can look forward to a real possibility of a low out of pocket expense! Everything turned out to be a win win for me! ??

8/22/23 - Dr. Powel is an amazing doctor. He is extremely knowledgeable and caring. ALWAYS puts the patient first. My 26 year old daughter and I are currently patients of Dr. Powell and trust him fully. His office staff is friendly and accommodating. Debbie and Donna are the best!!

He is very personable and made me feel at ease about my gall bladder surgery. He did an excellent job and I had a very speedy recovery

Dr Powell had treated me at Hungtington Hospital when I had needed to get my gallbladder removed during a time I was working for cash at a liquor store with a racist boss that wanted me to think he was my friend. I was worried about doing anything legally with Huntington because of what happened with my gallbladder because it might hurt my boss's legacy. I really did not like how I was treated at Huntington but I always remembered Wes, I was on a ton of drugs and didn't remember much care from a single person other than Wes, and even after i was discharged he let me come to his office completely free and MADE SURE I was okay. Powell is a VERY caring man and apparently just as good a doctor. I don't know what happened with my gallbladder, but at least I know someone cared about me. Thank you very much.

I absolutely love this office. The front desk is always friendly, Donna and Debb are absolutely fantastic, and Dr. Powell couldn't be more caring. I've never had better or more personal care from a healthcare team. From being in the hospital under Dr. Powell's care to the quick follow up visits in the office. Highly Recommended!

Dr. Powell is THE BEST Doctor I have EVER had! He is so courteous and treats his parents with dignity. His staff is kind and wonderful. The surgery was a success and I'm down 60 lbs!

This is an update to my previous review. Again this review is based on Dr Powell's staff ,which I feel reflects on him as well. I did not receive a call back from Debbie on Friday as I expected. I called back today ,2 business days later and she still had a nasty attitude ,she claimed she called me back 5 minutes after she hung up from my call. I never received a call ,I wouldn't call her back if I did. I would not recommend dealing with this office because of Debbie, just not worth the hassle.

I had my Bariatric Surgery in 2007. My name is George Stephanian. Dr. Powell I WANT to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank You so much. Still doing great.

My daughter went into emergency with gall bladder stones, the emergency doctor said she need surgery immediately. I was given a list of surgeons to call. After calling several and being told it would be 2 to 3 weeks before she could get an appointment, I called Dr. Powell's office. They not only saw her first thing the next day, they organized surgery that afternoon. They were kind, thoughtful and supportive. Dr. Powell explained thoroughly and was wonderful. I can't thank them enough.

I just came back from my consultation with Dr. Powell and I could not have left their office any more pleased. I absolutely loved the staff! Ms. Debbie and Ms. Donet (I'm sure I spelled that wrong), were BEYOND helpful and were most definitely helpful. I explained to them that this was my 4th doctor visit regarding trying to get weight loss surgery and they were equally and genuinely as frustrated for me as I was. I truly do believe they will do their very best to have Dr. Powell be my final dr!

Absolutely a pleasant experience!!! Dr. Powell and staff are AWESOME!
