Dr. Werner Henning, DO

I could not recommend Dr Henning enough! I usually have bad anxiety when he comes to doctor but Dr Henning makes you very comfortable! He takes time to listen to all of your medical concerns. His bed side manor is phenomenal. He is very kind and caring.

I had to have a colonoscopy done and due to the reason; I could not wait to get it scheduled. The referral was sent to his office and within one week I was scheduled and had the procedure. He met with my family afterwards while I was in recovery and explained he had taken a biopsy. He got me back in his office within 5 days of the procedure to discuss the pathology and treatment going forward. This doctor was courteous, thorough and very professional. I will see him again in three years or sooner if needed.

I am 80 years old and had a medium size lump growing on my inner leg that was bothering me. I made an appointment with Dr. Henning to look at it. He ended up explaining what it was and taking it off in the office that day. He was gentle, explained what he was doing every step of the way. He calmed my fear of even being there. His staff was very pleasant, the office was beautiful and making the appointment was quite simple with just one phone call. Very pleased with the care I received.

My husband had to have a CT done for abdominal pain. During that exam a mass was found that required him to have a colonoscopy. Of course, we were both freaked out and our minds immediately went to cancer. Dr. Henning explained what the mass could represent and what steps should be taken to further investigate. He got him in quickly and also followed up quickly after the procedure. He sat down with us and explained the findings and answered all our questions in layman terms. His character was professional and courteous at all times. I would definitely recommend him to all our family and friends.

Upon arrival to the doctor's office, I was pleasantly greeted by the receptionist. The office was clean with a beautiful fireplace in the waiting room. A very energetic polite medical assistant to me back to the room where we discussed the reason for my visit and my fears. 5 to 10 minutes later the doctor came in and introduced himself. Dr. Henning took the time to explain and calm my fear about the mass I had in the center of my upper back. He gave me choices and explained the pros and cons of each route. I chose to come back to the office for the procedure. He explained how he would do the procedure and then he took the mass out. Besides the poke & the stinging sensation that followed the injection to numb the site, there was no pain. He then gave his professional opinion of what the pathology would come back saying. When I came back to have the sutures removed and discuss path results the incision had healed completely. I would definitely recommend this office and Dr. Henning.

I was sent to see Dr Henning for a spot on my back. He removed it right in his office the day of my appointment instead of going to the hospital or a surgery center. I was grateful because I wouldn’t have all the other charges. He explained what needed to be done, was very patient and honest when answering my questions. He spent tons of time with me more than most doctors do. He definitely pays attention to detail when doing suturing. My scar isn’t bad at all. A week later I followed up with him and he told me I had cancer. Right away he was having his staff schedule me with oncology and I saw them that week. Great care by all staff members!

Was scheduled for colonoscopy through his office which was super easy. Went to McLaren. Dr Henning came in the room and went over the procedure with me in detail and asked if I had any questions. I was done in about twenty to thirty minutes. I met with him after to discuss the findings and home I went. This was one of the easiest processes I have done. Dr. Henning was kind and didn’t seem like he was hurrying me with my questions . I definitely will go back to him for my 10 year check.

Dr Henning was referred to me by my primary physician. I was referred to him for an umbilical hernia and a poor functioning gallbladder. I went into the office and was greeted with a smile and then called back to the room by a very pleasant young lady. Dr Henning then came into the room, did his evaluation and discussed the surgery in detail with me. He was kind, honest and answered all my questions and concerns about the procedures. Before leaving the office I met with the surgery scheduler and was then scheduled for the following week for surgery. Had a great outcome with the surgery!!

Bedside manner and professionalism needs MAJOR improvement. He does not listen to patient input nor family concerns, nor did he seek guidance from appropriate specialist(s) when outside of his area of expertise. Pushed for early release, post-surgery bowel resection, and family had to strongly advocate for longer hospital stay which ultimately added an additional 2-week stay after getting the right specialists involved. Needs to learn to view the patient as a whole (with multiple body systems that are affected by major surgery) rather than focusing only on 'surgically speaking ... ready for discharge.' (e.g. if patient is inpatient under the surgeon's care, it is the surgeon who decides when to discharge) - Dr. Henning expressly stated discharge was appropriate, to which I was able to stop only after demanding to speak with the nephrologist who ultimately agreed 'not ready for discharge,' and became involved in the decision-making process ... AFTER the discharge POC spoke with me.

Will not admit errors

Makes mistakes, makes excuses, doesn't listen, staff rude

Correctly diagnosed me, after three other emergency visits to other facilities failed to. Bowel surgery was done the next day thank goodness he saw me.

The staff was amazing and attentive to all of my concerns. Went in expecting a consult and are-visit at a later date as I was already a referral. To my surprise, I received same day service on the first day. It just doesn't get any better than that in today's world folks. Keep up the great work!

Poor "surgeon" Cares more about himself

I was in the ER and needed appendix surgery. Dr Henning was the one who did the surgery and he did an excellent job. He was very kind and personable and I felt safe and comfortable in his hands.
