Dr Hsu was extremely informative and gave me all of my options. I initially went with shots which didn't help. After I realized the only way I would feel better was surgery I went with Dr.Hsu & wished I had done it sooner . The day after my surgery I was feeling fantastic and have for the last 9 years. My follow up care with Dr. HSU was fantastic.

Another Dr. suggested a "spacer" at L5-SI. If that did not work then a fusion from to T10 to the pelvis was really the other option. Dr. Hsu advised against either of these because he felt the risks out-weighed the benefits. I respect that opinion. His PA did the exam: said my "pain ranges from 4 to a 9/10" That question was never asked. Also "Lumbar spine exam"; "negative Waddell signs"; "patient is able to do heel and toe walk", "throat was palpated", None of these were done, I never took my shirt off, no spine exam happened. He said Dr. Hsu was present for exam-he was not. I am not saying these would have made a difference but do not make up exams that did not occur. Dr. Hsu: After his opinion on no surgery, he said nothing. No advise, no options. He did not suggested more ESI. I had to ask if that is what I should do and he nodded and said "you could". He gave no advise. Sort of a "go away" I expected more from Northwestern. Do not tell NWM it is a 2nd opinion.

Dr. Hsu and his team of experts performed surgery on my back in 2016 and I couldn’t recommend anyone with more confidence! My surgery has given me back a quality of life I wasn’t sure would ever be possible! His staff is always helpful and gets back to me immediately when I need anything at all. They are the epitome of Professionalism!

Was reffered to him after my surgeon left... Only takes a couple minutes with you, does not even give you an exam and does not even bother to call about test results but has his "care team" email you. Sorry I'm paying him to talk to me not his care team. Going elsewhere for a second opinion.

I was in a very bad state when I saw Dr. Hsu for a consultation. I was having trouble sitting or standing and was only ever pain free when I was laying down. Dr. Hsu was confident that the surgery I ended up getting would address my issue. He also fit me in very quickly and I am so grateful. I had an immediate improvement to my quality of life. I can’t reccomend him enough if you are struggling with chronic pain as a result of a back issue.

Seen him for an IME , which in itself is a joke, the very definition of IME is independent exam , but how independent can he be when the insurance companies use him all the time. That says to me that he works for the insurance company. Very disappointed with his report, he agreed with my Dr. That I needed a pain shot, but for some reason acted as a psychic and put in his report that I would be magically cured 2 weeks after my shot and that I could be back at work without even being seen again.

We saw Dr. Hsu today for my sons herniated disc. He was over an hour late. I found myself aggravated by the superficial exam, his seeming inability to actually engage with us as the computer more interest. He was rushed and distracted. He asked questions but didn’t listen to the answers. Left really turned off. My husband is a doctor, so I am rather medically sophandicated. And would never seek his care or advice again.

Dr. Hsu is a magnificent doctor and a brilliant surgeon. I'm so grateful to have been referred to him by another great surgeon in 2011 to care for my husband. In short, Dr Hsu successfully preformed both Cervical and Lumbar surgeries on my husband over the next two years . If I ever need surgery, I hope it's in Dr. Hsu's wheelhouse because I have total confidence in all of his abilities as a doctor and surgeon.

I saw Dr Hsu for an IME. He was very friendly and seemed to really care. Well typical of an IME that all changed when we got a copy of his report. He is not as through as his report claimed he was, He didn't do half the testing that he put in his report at all. As far as an IME goes he is all for the insurance company that is putting the money in his pocket. He put in my report that there was nothing wrong with me glad my surgeon didn't listen end up with multiple spine problems and had surgery

Dr. W. Hsu seen me today 5/15/2017. I was very impressed with his schooling and from the referring Dr. who referred me. Dr. Hsu was extremely thorough on explanation and showing me on the MRI what he was referring to. He did not recommend surgery but injections instead from the anesthesia Department. I am one VERY happy patient. Val Look~

Dr. Hsu took excellent care of me. My arm had become weak and hand was numb from a cervical disc problem. I was in a tremendous amount of pain. Dr. Hsu arranged a quick surgery -as soon a possible and even came in on his non surgery day to help correct my problem. I feel so much better and the strength is coming back in my arm. He was very attentive and did a fabulous job. I would highly recommend! He told me exactly what to expect and my surgery and recovery were exactly as he explained.

I saw Dr Hsu for an IME for workers comp. He was very friendly. I would recommend him to anyone, he seemed to really care about the patient. I know that an IME, is not suppose to be friendly but he seemed to really care.
