Dr. Weiming Chu, MD

Dr. Chu is unresponsive and does not care about patients - he basically just tries to drug people up without any information or effort. He did not contact my family for my relative’s health history. He was making a recommendation for my relative to get transferred to La Palma after having only seen my relative in psychosis once (while they were still experiencing hallucinations). We desperately had to plead for communication, and still nothing! Even after five days of not seeing my relative, his referral stood. We needed to advocate and fight for my relative to get referred elsewhere, only for them to get denied because of “no medical necessity”. So what was the point, Dr. Chu? DO NOT WORK WITH THIS MAN. He does not care about lives, only money. Stand your ground and fight for your family’s autonomy in decision-making.

Dr. Weiming Chu has been the most unhelpful Psychiatrist we have ever dealt with. My brother underwent a very severe psychosis resulting him in the hospital. Dr. Chu evaluated him the day after the psychosis and wrote to admit him into inpatient care after stabilized, but failed to let us know why. My brother's care doctor in the hospital followed up everyday with me saying that I needed to wait for Dr. Chu to update me on my brother's care- for 5 days no follow-up. Still no follow-up. He wanted to admit my brother to just continue medication with no real care. Our family was urgently trying to understand what kind of care my brother needed to get better- but Dr. Chu not once attempted to make contact even when messaged by another Doctor. What kind of care is that? He never actually evaluated my brother after psychosis... he simply made judgements on one interaction. Dr. Weiming Chu is incompetent and careless. Seek a second opinion if Dr. Chu is your family's doctor. Truly. Unless you want your family member to be changed only by medication- I am warning you. DR. CHU will not care to update you, even if the patient wants his family members involved.

This is in regards to dealing with this Dr. Chu from the patient's, family member, perspective. Dr. Chu makes an initial visit then disappears. No further visits, no communication whatsoever, avoids any return calls, & avoids conference calls. So basically, greatly lacks communication skills. We are currently battling a situation of the hospital attempting to do an unsafe discharge. Dr. never attempted to get family input or patient's past history. Due to this Dr.'s diagnosis, or lack of, we are all suffering horrifically, as our family member's, patient rights advocates. Patient, is hallucinating, delusional, lashes out and more. Hospital (Anaheim Global Medical Center) controls and seems to brainwash patient into thinking we are the enemies. The social worker, Karina Tapia, even went as far as filing false testimonials to the Court. We were able to prove Karina's statements as false & misleading. Stand your ground and don't give into the harassments and threats.

We had an appointment and there was a major car accident so we arrived 10 minutes late. The receptionist said that Dr. Chu's time was valuable and he couldn't meet with us. I explained that my daughter was brand new to the medication and was having side effects due to the medication and it was very important that we see him.and yet they still would not let us see him. Very strange. Seems like Dr. Chu is running the office like a fast food restaurant prescribing pills and no follow up. SCARY!
