Something has changed at this office
I've been seeing Dr. Leverett for many years. I think he's a great doctor and he has helped me when sick, many times over the years. In the past, it's always been easy to see him on short notice, if I was having issues that needed attention sooner than later. It seems that Dr. Leverett is mostly unavailable now and any messages sent to him on the patient portable is answer by supporting staff instead of him. Maybe he has too much on his plate, but something has changed over time. I don't mind the fact that they now charging a membership fee now, but I'm beginning to think it's not worth it, if I can't get a simple lab order done in a timely manner. Two weeks is a long time out on a schedule for simple labs, when you've already been sick for three weeks. After I gave up on them, I made one quick phone call to another provider. No more waiting for a lab orders. I'm disappointed but hope that this might help them to make a change in scheduling if someone needs a simple lab order.

So Long and Thanks For All The Memories
I am writing this review with a heavy heart, having myself (as well as my wife and four of my children) been a patient of Dr. Leverett since 2005. I Have utilized Peninsula Family Medical for personal healthcare, work related injury, elective surgery and any other medical needs my family and I have had over the last nineteen years. That being said my recent experiences with them have been some of the worst I have ever encountered. The $50 dollar a month 'concierge' fee, rude and dismissive front office personnel and the complete inaccessibility of Dr. Leverett are just down right offensive.I called to make an appointment because i was injured at work. I was repeatedly informed that I have not been in for several years (apparently being in good health is a punishable offense), and told I was now being considered as a new patient. After 5 days of stalling and not returning my calls, I was told they no longer desire having me as a patient. So much for loyalty or the Hippocratic Oath.

They charge a membership fee for access to care
Recently, this office has begun implementing a new policy where patients are required to pay a monthly fee on top of their copays and insurance payments, in order to see their healthcare provider. The front desk claims that this is necessary to maintain the financial stability of the office, but it is unclear why they would do this given that they do not accept low-income insurance or serve underserved populations. This new policy seems to be aimed at generating consistent revenue/padding pockets. This model is similar to how gyms operate. However, while gym memberships are considered a luxury, healthcare is not! Other practices have implemented a similar model, known as direct primary care, as a way to reduce patient costs and lower prescription expenses- this is not that! They are offering same level of care, same co-pays and same insurance payments. Incredibly sad.

I was a patient of Dr. Leverett's for approximately five years. He pulled my blood, and did not tell me he was testing me for physcoactives. He said that I tested positive for Methadone, which I have never seen or done. I told him that I had used kratom to stay awake, because I am an epileptic, and on 2500 mg of sodium channel meds that make me very tired. He didn't even know what kratom was, or that it was legal, and he buttered out "you can't do that!"... I told him that I can, and I left. My wife was a patient. She was raised Mormon, has never used drugs/alcohol, and went to him once genuinely seeking information on ADHD, because she has attention issues and a family history of attention disorders. He made her feel as if she was a heroin addict looking for her next fix. She came home almost in tears. I can, and will do what I damn well please. Please inform yourself, and your patients rather than shaming them. I do hope you are happy, healthy, and live a long life

I'm a former patient of Dr. Leverett. Since I had not seen him in several years, I am considered a new patient and he is not accepting new patients. I totally get that, but what I don't get is the inability to provide a recommendation/referral to another Dr. I don't have any issues with Dr. Leverett as a doctor, in fact many of our mutual friends are very satisfied patients.
