I went to Dr. Giminaro because both my parents were patients of his. I was a junior in college and to no surprise, had put on some weight over the past couple years. He made me feel extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed about my weight throughout the entire visit. He kept asking me what weight I felt “sexy” at. There was literally no mention of any health concerns, he was solely addressing my physical appearance. He also bluntly asked me if I’ve always been “bigger than all my friends.” When I brought up my anxiety issues (I had been experiencing panic attacks), his response was “What do you have anxiety for? You’re a young girl, you shouldn’t have anxiety.” I also tried to express my concern about my stress-induced hair loss, and rather than taking me seriously, his suggested was to “eat a cup of jello each night” as if the keratin from help was going to solve my issue. My parents have always had good experiences with him, but I can’t say the same.
