No empathy
Dr Gorantla is insensitive and lacks empathy. He does not see his patients as humans, or at best can’t demonstrate so.

Compassion Free
He is incapable of speaking with patients with any care or compassion. He also oversteps his role and speaks to the patient’s treatment beyond the hospital when he just rounding and in a negative way that opposes agreed upon treatment with the patient’s actual doctor. He is arrogant and condescending.

Male Breast Cancer
Dr. Gorantla is a very compassionate person. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 45 and underwent a mastectomy along with chemo therapy. I also found out that I have the BRAC 2 mutation. Dr. Gorantla always answers all my questions and takes his time during my appointments to make sure I am doing alright. Dr. Gorantla said if I ever felt that something wasn't right physically he would make sure that all tests would be done. In addition, he gave me several great referrals to what is now my care team since I have a greater risk for certain types of cancers.

This is the worst Dr I've ever known. He told my brother he had 3 cancers and there was nothing they could do for him. Then, he proceded to tell my brother, "It's like winning the reverse lottery." He must have thought it was cute, or funny, in a sick way. I'm fairly certain my brother understood what "dying" meant, without the cruel humor!

I had to leave my existing hematologist and switch to UPMC. After chemo, immunotherapy, radiation, and a radical mastectomy under my previous hematologist, Dr. Gorantla cavalierly announced on my first visit with him that my cancer diagnosis was probably incorrect. Maybe he is right, I don't know. But it was a hell of piece of information to toss out on the first visit. In subsequent visits, I have not learned on what he based his opinion. I am in no position to judge his medical skills -- I am assuming (hoping) they are excellent. But his quick dismissal of the 2-year intense, invasive treatment I just completed was very upsetting.

I was in need of a Medical Oncologist and the physician I wanted in the same practice was booked so I was given an appointment with Dr. Gorantla. As a result of feeling rushed into making a decision about chemotherapy and not answering our questions, I sought out a second and third opinion. So pleased I went with my instincts and trusted myself through a trying time. I encourage everyone to seek second opinions no matter how scared you are.

Dr. Gorantla took on my case where another hospital would not. This man assured me he would do everything he can for me and I've never lost that faith. I had been treated with dignity and respect on every single visit. He has been excellent! I believe that God led me to him and I will forever be grateful in his efforts to save my life.

I see a one star rating for Dr. Gorantla but find it hard to comprehend why. Dr. Gorantla and his staff have treated me like family and have left no stone unturned. I would recommend him any time with a five star rating.
