sloppy staff
My 78 year old father suffers from Parkinsons Disease and needed to see a neurologist. I diligently called and made sure they accepted his insurance, office staff confirmed they DID. I made sure they received referral from primary doctor. I arranged transportation for my father to be carried out of his building in wheelchair into ambulette to arrive to this appointment on time with home aide. When he arrived they said they did not accept his insurance after all and turned him away. Cruel, awful do not send your loved ones here staff should be careful in details such as this, huge inconvenience. Sloppy administration.

I was unhappy with my experience with Dr. Varna. The office itself was fine, Toni (receptionist) and Crystal (nurse) were very nice and helpful; Dr. Varna on the other hand was interruptive and did not make proper time for me to explain my issues. He made assumptions about my health based on my age and gender during our conversation, and I did not feel that I was able to properly explain myself to give him an accurate picture of the situation at hand. The conversation was continuously interrupted by Dr. Varna's questions, while i was mid-sentence, and I would get cut off before I finished my full thoughts. In the end, I was referred to see another kind of specialist, a month of yoga classes, and to come back in six weeks if my situation hasn't improved which, for $350, is an absolute disgrace. This conclusion would’ve sufficed if I felt he had a comprehensive idea of the issue, but I did not. I felt like this appointment was rushed and inconclusive, which I would never expect at such a high self-pay price. Being a young woman and having to work hard to advocate for yourself to doctors is already difficult as is, and Dr. Varna was unsuccessful in making me feel like my issues were heard and properly addressed. The ridiculous medical bill just adds insult to injury. I will not be returning to this center and I would not recommend it to my friends or relatives.

Dr. Varma treats you as a partner to better your health. He has a patient-centered approach, which means shared decision-making. He takes time to get to know you as a person. He's easy to talk to, and really listens. He's an award-winning surgeon who has pioneered a minimally invasive surgical technique that shortens the healing time. I feel very comfortable with him. He's one of the best! I am totally healed from spinal surgery after only 3 months. I highly recommend Dr. Varma.

Disappointing and frustrating. A truly horrible experience. No follow up. No care for the patient. Despite five phone calls over the course of a month since my appointment where I was told I have a cyst, Dr. Varma has STILL not transcribed his notes to enable me to schedule my MRI which he recommended. I have spent countless time on the phone with different office people, only to be told the same thing: I'll make sure he gets this message. It's a month later and I still have not been able to schedule my MRI. Worst experience.

Saw him 4 x’s. He was overwhelmed by my needs from the start. I’m a multiple medical me. He scheduled an EMG which helped me confirm suspected -grateful for. The following appointments -downhill quick. Whoever processes scripts is incompetent & there is no supervision or care to correct them. Scripts sent wrong multiple times after multiple phone calls. Doctor did not want to be bothered with that problem. “That’s for my office staff to fix. Don’t bother me with this.” Nope it’s yours. Fired!

I could hardly walk a block because of pains in my legs (which turned out to be spinal stenosis) & Dr. Varma removed 2 lamina (after trying more conservative treatments) which totally eliminated ALL pains and allows me to live a normal active life. He was always responsive, communicative & personable to me and my wife, and my now retired cousin doctor said he never heard of such a complete surgical success for that surgery. I was sent to him by my PCP who has referred many others successfully.
