Dr. Vijay Subbarao, MD

Dr. Subbarao was dismissive and curt to the point of being arrogant. He office staff was also rude and failed to follow up after assuring me I would hear back from them. I told my PCP that I would have nothing more to do with him or Denver Heart and requested a referral to another practice.

Always kind, patient and encouraging. And his office staff is the same and quick to respond to questions. My husband has been seeing Dr Subbarao for more than a decade. He discovered us when he called from the hospital. He saw something in the EKG that had been missed by the ER during the night. He asked us to meet him at the hospital and my husband had much needed stents within hours. We give him credit for enabling my husband to enjoy a quality life for many years despite multiple cardiac issues. One more stent last week and we’re looking forward to more travel adventures and time with our family. Simply the best!

Dr Subbarao had been my cardiologist for over 12 years. He is extremely competent, responsive and has wonderful patient mannerism. I cannot say more about him.

After being diagnosed with a heart murmur and brady cardia by my primary care doctor I was scheduled for a heart work up with Dr. Subbarao. He ordered a number of tests as well as a stress test. This was the weirdest stress test I have ever had. He was at least 30 minutes late and insisted on being present for the test. He basically was very dismissive and annoyed - I was out of shape and I was wasting his time. And by the way come back next year. Well there was no way I was scheduling another visit with him. I scheduled a year follow-up with National Jewish. Night and day. The doctor I saw at National Jewish explained everything and reassured me there was no cause for any concern but that a yearly follow up esp. with the murmur was in order. On top of the weird stress test - the Denver Heart lost my stress test and it took a week to find. How does that happen? Very disappointed with Denver Heart - not sure what's going on but would not recomment.

On the good side, Dr Subbarao seemed very competent. But his bedside manner was the pits. For my first appt. he was an hour late and extremely rushed. He was hostile when I tried to ask questions about a medication I was consuming, stating my PCP shouldn't have prescribed it, then when asked what would be a better drug, said he didn't know. He was also 45 minutes late for my 2nd appt., not to mention inconsistent in info--e.g., in the first appointment he insisted that my sleep apnea was a great concern in the causation of my near-heart attack (it was averted in the ER) and demanded that I have new sleep studies before he could complete my treatment plan. I scheduled these, but in my 2nd appointment he never even asked whether I had moved forward on this--never mentioned it at all, and told me to just come back in 12 weeks. He was also unaware that I had called the off-hrs. doctor 5 days previous, when my heart had once again acted up. He is not someone I would want treating me.

Dr Subbarao always takes the time to listen and answer any questions. He is thorough in his examinations, easy to talk to, and has a great "bedside manner".

I went to three different cardiologists for different opinions on my ECHO test. This office BY FAR beats the other top rated offices and doctors that were recommended to me. He is super approachable and talks to you like a person and makes sure you understand your heart health issues. The technology he has at the office is incredible. I was able to view my ECHO results and he walked me through what I saw. I left the office with a heart monitor whereas the two other offices told me I had to come back another time to pick it up or I had to go to a different location. His operation is just way more advanced the other places. You can tell this is his passion!

Dr. Subbarao is a very fine, caring, patient, and extremely knowledgeable cardiologist. Someone who I have recommended to friends because I know the care they, too, would receive is exceptional. He is one of the best!

In 2007, I was given 3-5 yrs. to live by my former cardiology group but was lucky enough back then to be referred to Dr. Subbarao. That was 13 yrs. ago and thanks to Dr. Subbarao's excellent care, I'm still here. He goes the extra mile, taking time to communicate with my other medical specialists and always considers my overall medical condition, quality of life and any risks involved when any treatment/procedure is proposed. Most importantly, his staff always responds promptly when I call with a heart-related concern. I am so fortunate to be cared for by such a skilled and dedicated physician

Dr. Subbarao's MA was completely incompetent, so much so I called and asked that he was not part of my care for any reason. I did not find Dr. Subbarao, prepared with any review of my medical records, test results or heart monitoring information. I found this and his arrogant approach very unprofessional with lack of concern of current conditions, symptoms or potential progression paths, or timing. I will not ever return or continue any type of care with Dr. Subbarao or his staff and I will ensure my family or friends do not either.

Dr. Subbarao has a good bedside manner and is confident in his understanding of heart issues. I have recently moved but when I was seeing him I felt very comfortable with his treatment options, he is a good choice for a cardiac doc.

Dr. Vijay is so personal and always listens to my concerns and issues. After routine testing, he is always interested in my concerns or issues. He listens, ask questions, and then makes observations and or recommendations.

Roomed in a timely manner. All questions answered with explanation of test findings. I would recommend Dr Subbarao very highly to anyone looking for a cardiologist.

The experience was exceptional, we spent a very short time in the waiting room, all staff were very professional and friendly including Dr. Subbarao.

Dr Subbarao is s blessing to me. He cares , is concerned about my health and very patient and understanding with me. I have referred several friends and family and all love him.

Dr. Subbarao looks me straight in the eye and gives me his candid opinion. He listens to me and carefully answers my questions.

This Dr very carefully listens to you and takes the time to answer any questions and really looks at you. Over the years I have been his patient I have recommended him a number of times and I have never mentioned him to any medical professionals who did not say he is the best there is.

I like everything about him. He listens, he answers my questions, he is kind. I appreciate his knowledge and care regarding my health concerns. I have been seeing him for 15 years, and will continue to do so.
