Dr. Victor Araya is the crown jewel in the Area!
Dr. Araya and I have known each other since the early 2000s. In my humble opinion, he is absolutely the best in hepatology. I recommend Dr. Vitor Araya without any reservations whatsoever!

Dr. Victor Araya - The Authority! – Nov 27, 2022

Absolutely Horrible Human Being
A year ago this month, I received my Liver transplant from John Hopkins, Baltimore Maryland. I thank God everyday that I didn't stay with Dr Araya. That is how horrendous his bed side manner is! He arrogantly told me that I "was a stubborn alcoholic who would DIE on the transplant list" because I refused to walk Lansdale Hospital Hallways during the height of CoVid. I explained that I would pace around my room for exercise as I regularly did. But that wasn't enough for him so, he did one of the most inhumane and heartbreaking things a Doctor can do....he tried to takeaway his patient's HOPE. All because I had my own opinions about my care and had research. I constantly tripped him up with questions that he clearly didn't know the answers. He erratically switched my meds and finally released me "to go die on the transplant list at age 50". PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT waste your / your loved ones time with him. He is NOT worth your life. I am now 2 years sober and alive & kicking!

I was absolutely floored at how rude, abrasive, and unprofessional Dr. Araya was. He clearly doesn't liked to be asked questions. He gave me a particular piece of information that other doctors and my own reading contradicted. When I politely said that I'd been told differently, he said I was being "difficult" instead of explaining his position like any decent doctor would. I got the feeling throughout the visit that I was a nuisance to him rather than a patient. Anybody in the Montgomeryville or Lansdale area should steer well clear of Dr. Araya.

My mother in law used to see Dr. Araya for a liver condition when he was at Doylestown and then at Abington until she got fed up. He spends more time bragging about how he's the best doctor in his field than he does actually listening to or helping his patients. He spent every visit telling her there was nothing he could do for her condition & she was going to die, but she needed to lose weight. When he asked her about her diet, and she told him that all she ate was chicken, fish & vegetables, he told her she was "obviously lying" and she just needed to try harder. When she asked him what she *should* be eating, he refused to tell her. Turns out, her two injectable insulin drugs *both* cause weight gain, which he should have known as the "best doctor in his field". He refused to coordinate with her other specialists, never had more than 15 minutes to spend on a visit, and was the most useless doctor she has seen (which is saying a lot, since basically none of them are good).

Terrible. He is rude and beligerent, and as others have said not willing to answer the questions of those who may have done some research. Understandably, self guided research can be dangerous, but I would have thought that a supposedly educated doc as himself would be kind enough to redirect patients who are off base. Switched practices, and the new doc who knows him didn't have good things to say, nor good reactions when I shared Dr Araya's name. Never ever recommend him in a million years. Go somewhere else for sure.

Not a good experience at all. I went in for an endoscopy and prior to the scope, the doctor asked if I had any questions. I asked away and he didn’t seem to be happy at my knowledge. He didn’t take the time to answer anything I asked, maybe he was intimidated that someone actually asked about my gut issues. He had no patience at all. After the procedure when he came back to speak to my wife and myself, again, he asked if we had any questions, but he did not address them and just said to wait until I follow up with his P.A. in a couple of weeks. You might consider seeing another doctor at this office -

When diagnosed with liver damage Dr. Araya completely ruled out that the medicine I was currently taking had anything to do with it, even though it is well known that it causes liver damage, and added another drug that accelerated the damage. Had me do an unnecessary biopsy (according to other doctors). In desperation for a solution, I did my own research, stopped the medicines I knew were causing this, took my own course of action and completely healed myself, against all of his misguided advise. If he had just taken me off of the drugs and watched what happened I could have avoided the biopsy all together. My colonoscopy with him was a disaster. He changed the instructions on the prep, then asked me why he had done that, said he couldn't get a good reading, and wanted me to repeat it in a year. I've since spoken with several other people who had the same colonoscopy experience with him changing the prep instructions only to have a bad colonoscopy.

I use to see him when he was at Doylestown. He was very patient and nice. Went to see him at Hillmont. Wow, what a difference. I had to keep telling him why I was there. He kept asking "remind me why your here". If the visit is over 15 mins he looses interest. I came to see him b/c of a bile duct problem. I to ask him for more followup tests to rule out cancer. He referred me to Jefferson. I told him it's out of network. I had to find a MD in network myself to do the test. Will never go back.

I am very pleased with everything at Hillmont G.I.! It was fast and easy to make an appointment, the check in time was fast and I waited about 5 minutes to be called back to a room. The staff there was professional and friendly, my doctor was professional but personable as well. He listened to everything I was concerned about. Checking out was a breeze too! I'm very happy with my entire visit and will be honored to be a forever patient there.
